"The food and drinks were fine but the noise level was ridiculous as there was a Bachelorette party going on in the bar upstairs and for some reason the partition/doorway was kept open allowing all the noise into the dining room below."

"Always great and a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. The selection of dishes and wines is classic, fresh and tasty. A favorite in Birmingham for lunch and brunch, and a fun quiet place for dinner!"

"This should have been an outstanding holiday meal amongst good friends who thought long and hard about where to go . Unfortunately our server was abrupt, rude, rushed and unpleasant, even after our constant attempts to kill his mood with our kindness. The temperature was inconsistent with the heaters either blasting unbearable heat and turning off altogether. There was not one dairy free option on the menu though the market is just below. The food was fine but way overpriced for the poor experience. So unfortunate to say, but I’m doubtful we will ever return."

"Everything was magnificent besides the fact that we made a reservation and still had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated. Regardless, I will most certainly go back to this restaurant. The food was delicious. Server was great!"

"I came for the lobster roll and I can solidly say it's the best one I've had outside of New England. I tried the Connecticut style lobster roll and it was petite but overloaded with the sweetest, freshest lobster. The bun was nicely toasted. I opted for a Caesar side salad in substitute for the potatoes that come with the roll normally warning the markup price for substitutes is substantially more than the difference in price for side items individually. It was $5 extra to substitute the side salad though the price difference on the menu of sides was $2. We split the Wrecking Ball for dessert an ice cream ball coated with a mixture of toffee, nuts, pretzels and more. We were told that the in house pastry chef makes the toffee, peanut butter cups and other components of the mixture that goes on the ice cream ball. I think four people could split the wrecking ball and each get a nice but not overwhelming amount of dessert. The ambiance of the restaurant is much more casual than I was expecting. This is not a fancy, date night seafood restaurant. It's more like all the casual seafood restaurants in New England, complete down to the menu placemats. Service was polite, quick and accurate. All in all, I very much enjoyed my visit to Hazel's and plan to return soon!"

"I was excited to try this hotel for a quick business trip to Birmingham. When I looked at the website prior to booking, it highlighted the location, amenities, and hotel bar with interesting cocktails and wine. The staff was friendly, the location was excellent, and the room was beautiful. The only issue I have is that their bar staff have absolutely zero idea what they 're doing. If I 'm traveling for business by myself, having a cocktail at the bar and getting some time to myself is part of my experience. When I tell you the bartender had no idea, she had NO idea. I asked for an old fashioned. She looked at me and said, ok, what 's in that? . Based on that question, I pivoted to something simpler a vodka soda. First question from her ok, what kind of soda do you want? Coke or sprite? I explained that it was just soda water, not an actual soda. While she tried to figure out the dispenser, I thought better of my order and asked for a glass of wine instead. She then let me know that the wine dispenser wasn 't working. Pretty much gave up after that.I understand it 's just a drink, but I 've had other business partners go and have the same experience. Don 't advertise what you don 't have. If you don 't have cool craft cocktails, please don 't say you do. If you don 't know how to pour a glass of wine, please don 't offer it on the menu. I understand good people are hard to find, but you 're better off removing the bar offerings from your website so that people understand you don 't have the staff to support at the time. For context, I travel for business, on average for anywhere from 3 6 days per month about eight months of the year. To me, it 's the little things that matter in a hotel experience that make me come back again and again. This was my first time intentionally booking an IHG hotel. It was also my last.Side note: The building is historic (beautiful) but the elevator is a little harrowing to ride.Food drinks: Bar is non existent. Bartenders don 't know how to mix drinks. You 're better off getting your pre dinner cocktail or nightcap elsewhere!"
