"My first trip to Royal was a few months ago, with visitors from Europe and we had the usual Hakka dishes (chili chicken, Hakka chow, etc. . Food was okay, and service average. Last week we stopped by again, but with friends who spoke Mandarin and Cantonese. This time, the service was top notch, very fast and friendly, and we were served a few dishes that I don't remember ordering, and were not charged for. I've had better and worse chili chicken elsewhere. Still not sure if the supurb service on the last visit was based on who was dining in."

"Have been by so many times, and only discovered this gem today at lunch. What a warm and inviting place! Such hospitality! The prix fixe menu was so reasonable, and did not disappoint. We cleaned our plates and left feeling so happy : Highly, highly recommend this delightful experience."

"Another fair restaurant with decent food and not muchin the way of atmosphere. To be fair, the place is in the middle of basically nowhere, and most of the customersdon't really stay; it looks like more of a take-out/delivery joint than a place people come to dine.The Thai is good, but I was a little disappointed that therewas no Som Tam (Papaya Salad) on the menu. For me, that's really the litmus test for a true Thai restaurant: you'dbe challenged to go anywhere in Thailand and find a menuw/o Som Tam on it (or at least a vendor who wouldn't makeit for you if they didn't bother with a menu)."

"On our vacation, this was the worst place we ate. I actually like my food on the bland side, but this stuff had almost no seasoning (not even salt) and tasted like it was made days ago. I got the goat roti with spinach and squash. The actual goat meat was good, but the rest was like baby food. Husband had to put tons of hot sauce on his just to make it edible. For two rotis (one at $10 and the other at $13,) a $4 order of sweet potato fries (they were very good actually,) $4 dessert, and three drinks (peanut drink?! yum,) it cost $40. We could have spend that $40 on a much better meal somewhere else."

"Oyster Boy was booked for our anniversary dinner. It’s been 6 years since we’ve last paid a visit and the quality of food is consistent and has not changed one bit! Our waiter William was amazing, he took note that it was our anniversary and gave us two glasses of complimentary champagne and a small starter. I thought that was a nice touch! It definitely made our night extra special. He also suggested a few main dishes that were his fav and we followed through with his suggestions. I thought that was pretty smart to do so because it speeds up the ordering process if couples are indecisive. FYI- the squid and jumbo scallops are the best dishes on the menu! Of course, when you’re at Oyster Boy, YOU HAVE TO ORDER THE OYSTERS! We ordered two of each kind and can say some West Coast oysters are more on the saltier side. Both West and East coast oysters are good but I prefer East more for my palette. I saw two gigantic filters in the restaurant, it was nice to see some clean ventilation going on. The hostess was also very friendly, I felt bad because not only did she handled the phones, she handled the front-end and she dealt with walk-ins and orders. One lady who was waiting in line and later got told there were no tables for the rest of the night ended up yelling at the hostess but she dealt with it professionally. I reassured her that she was doing a great job. I didn’t get her name but she deserves a raise for doing 5 different jobs on a busy night. Highly recommend Oyster Boy, lovely food and lovely staff. Just maybe reserve a table few weeks in advance to avoid disappointment of not getting a table last minute."

"Some great dishes and one poor. Huge portions which we were unable to finish. Would have liked it if the waiter had warned us as he knew we were staying in a hotel and thus doggy bags were not possible.The good dishes were Ma Po Tofu, green beans with spicy mince, Sizchuan eggpant. The ribs were dry and tough."
