"Popped into the Generals for a lunch on a Friday. We were the only table inside on arrival and there was one table of drinkers occupied outside. Pub was dark inside, music was put on after we arrived. The food was awful. The worst quality meal we’ve had out in a long time. We ordered bread and olives to start. Was a part-baked roll and cheap olives. We both ordered burgers for main thinking they’d be of the quality of the burger collaborations they’ve done over the past few years (Black Pig who now have their Farm Cafe in Heybridge) but no. Unfortunately the buns were the very floury white buns you get at the supermarket, beef burgers like you get from a van outside of b&q and grated cheese out of a packet. Burger came with a pile of chips and a dollop of shop bought coleslaw. Wish I’d taken a picture as it was so depressing. Pub needs a good clean on the inside. Looks lovely from the outside and the garden is probably it’s redeeming feature. A real shame as this could be a real corker of a pub for cosy meals over the autumn/winter months."

"I treat myself occasionally by popping into O’Connors. It has a really nice old world vibe while still being very clean and modern. There is a wide selection of beers and spirits plus a nice courtyard outback with plenty of seating"

"Typical greene king pub, good choice of beer. somewhat quite when I visited, but always nice to relax with a guinness. bartender made sure our dog had water and a tasty bite!"

"The food was excellent and the service excellent. The dessert menu cannot be overlooked. We ordered chocolate cake, bread pudding with vanilla sauce and freshly fried churros with dulce de leche sauce. It was very difficult to choose one of the three as favorites."
