"I'm from the land of fish and chips, ie the UK. So I have very high standards when it comes to fish and chips. I've lived in Canada now for 38 years, and have eaten fish and chips all over the place in Canada and...the USA and generally been universally disappointed. Fish was not good or too much batter or too little batter or batter too crunchy or chips not done well or too salty overall (fish and chips), and don't get me going about French fries !! So I went here with wife and two grandkids in the early evening (6pm), and I ordered the fish and chips, not with a lot of hope... But I was hugely surprised possibly the best fish and chips I've ever eaten in North America. OK, still not as good as a goof chippie in England, but very close. Loved the fish, loved the batter, chips were pretty good. It does seem to be hit-and-miss though, given comments from other reviewers. I guess I was lucky? Or hopefully I got the standard. Wife's salad was good, and the grandkids loved their burgers. Service was wonderful very very pleasant. Food and drinks came promptly. And was decently affordable $80 with tip for meals and drinks. I live in Manotick and haven't eaten here much, but given this experience I'll be going again!"

"I had heard of this local company and that they had won a prize for their pasty pies at a contest in England. So I made a trek to the Ottawa Farmers Market at Lansdowne Park to scope them out.Turns out they sell frozen already cooked Pasty's that only require reheating.I bought a few from their sizeable menu and was blown away at how great they are.Steak & Guinness, Cornish and the English Breakfast were my favorites but even the more plain Cheese and Onion is fantastic. My only regret is that we can't get the company the rights to sell these during the Ottawa Fury Football matches at the stadium next door."

"We recently went to Ottawa and on our 2nd night went to D'arcy McGee's on Sparks St. We had such a great experience we went back again later in our trip. The atmosphere is fun and the service was amazing. Both times we had amazing...servers (forgot the name of our 1st server but the 2nd time it was Ally). They were friendly and fast at their jobs. We tried different food each time and loved it all. Our favorites were the Butter Chicken Nachos (sounds odd but was really good) the Mushroom and Steak bowl. I wish we had one where I live b/c I would love to eat there again."

"La cuisine est soignée et bonne. Juste une petite remarque, nos plats, bien que tous différents, étaient assez épicés (gingembre notamment je sens). Ce déséquilibre est dommageable, surtout que les produits sont frais et de bonne qualité. Pour le reste la salle est agréable (pas trop bruyante) et le personnel efficace et attentif. Enfin, le rapport qualité prix est bon. Seul bémol, il y a du monde donc risque d'attente."

"I was literally the only customer. Took forever to take my order, then awhile later came and told me she had to retake my order. I'm your only customer and you can't remember what I ordered. Plus now I've waited and this whole time my...food wasn't even started. While I was waiting (during the time when nothing was happening because they forgot to make my food) the waitress was talking with a coworker about bad trips to the dentist and how multivitamins make her throw up. Not very appetizing. When I finally got my food, most of it was good, but the bacon was way overcooked. Overall a disappointment."

"Moose McGuires is a great neighborhood pub located near the airport. It has everything going for it except the service. I've been there three times now and nothing has improved. We waited over an hour for a pound of wings and couldn't even wave the waitress down for a beer refill. At one point there was a lineup waiting to get in and no attendant. Not great. If you don't mind the wait, the wings are the best"
