"As we hadn’t been to The Grill At 25 for some time, we decided to go for a birthday meal. I called first to check we were ok to come in for 6pm and the lady i spoke to sounded very cheerful. We got there and was shown to our table, given the menu and left for a few minutes before she came back and asked what drinks we would like. Now i liked that she gave us the perfect amount of time to take off our jackets, settle down and look at the drinks menu. The drinks were also perfect my children had soft drinks but my wife had a lager and black and i had a bitter shandy. These are two very simple drinks to get wrong but we both had a sip of our drinks and said at the same time “oh, thats nice. Once we had chosen out meals (we all started with a main) it arrived promptly and hot. My son and wife both had gammon, which they both loved. My daughter had a burger which looked very nice. I’m a veggie, so had a margherita pizza with added pineapple. I ate half of it and got very full, so the waiting lady boxed up the rest for me to take home (i’m eating this now cold and it’s just as nice). My wife and i shared a desert of chocolate fudge cake with ice cream which was beautiful. My son had syrup sponge and custard, which he said “tasted better than the school version”. Which apparently is top compliment because its always been his favourite (he’s 17). My daughter had the chocolate brownie. Which was actually two large brownies with her opted custard. She managed one before having to undo the top button of her trousers. We did pay more than we would have if we had been to Eaton Farm or The Plank, but it was worth it. Those two places didn’t come anywhere near the service, drink or food we got at The Grill At 25. We did tip at the end and i sit here now thinking “i wish we had left more”. Thank you for a fantastic evening and we hope to be back very soon."

"We are regular visitors to this lovely restaurant and have missed it terribly during this pandemic and lockdown period, so were delighted when we could order takeaway to enjoy in our garden. Fabulous fish and chips as usual Georges and look forward to be back in the restaurant soon"

"The best meal I had in the old. I don't remember the last time I made so many yams in a meal. I think we have booked for the right time of 8.30, as we have not been rushed at all. the personal was beautiful. the drinks were great and the beer on the tap was more reasonable price for a restaurant. the black scratches must come with a health warning of the spirit their teeth, but they were delicious. I couldn't owe it."

"We use the Mallard every month or so, usually for the carvery. We were there about 3 weeks ago on a saturday and enjoyed a nice carvery in a quite full, lively pleasant atmosphere. BUT, today on this Saturday lunchtime I think there was only two other customers. There was no carvery, it appears to served on Thursdays and Sundays only now. So we chose two baguettes from the Specials menu. Despite the pub being virtually empty they took 30 minutes to arrive. One half of the order was incorrect and we had to ask twice for our (horrible) gravy. The baguettes were overbaked and very crunchy and the stuffing was definitely an old carvery stuffing ball chopped in two. All throughout our visit there was plenty of mirth and merriment within the kitchen including the f word within earshot of the eating area. We can live with most of that but the quality of food was pretty poor. Quite sad really because something has gone wrong."
