"We ate lunch here and had a decent lunch, but certainly nothing special. Soups were good, other food was decent. Service was slow. There were flies in the restaurant that were irritating, and when we asked to move away from the front of the restaurant to get away from the flies, they were accommodating but made their displeasure known."

"We were spending a few hours in Grindelwald and walked past the Hotel Restaurant Hirschen and saw the chalk board outside advertising apple strudel and ice cream. We couldn't pass that up so in we went, all six of us. The lady who took our...order was extremely friendly and kind and really went out of her way to make sure that we got exactly what we wanted. Four of our party ordered the strudel, but our little granddaughter and I decided on ice cream and cookies with whipped cream. REAL whipped cream. Not the kind of product we have in the USA. The strudel was delicious and the ice cream was full of strawberries and nuts and all good things. We were sad we didn't have time for a full meal because everything coming out of the kitchen looked mouthwatering. If you find yourself in Grindelwald, try the Hotel Restaurant Hirschen for a meal or dessert."

"Really enjoyed this restaurant, went here twice during our stay in Grindelwald. Pizza was baked very well, nice crispy bottom and quality toppings. Tiramisu was also delicious! Indeed there are flies, but as explained by the owner, not something they can do anything about. The fans do help."

"Das Restaurant im Hotel Spinne heisst eigentlich Mercato. Offiziell handelt es sich um ein italienisches Restaurant, aber man kann fast alles essen, auch Käsefondue.Das Restaurant verfügt über einen eigenen Pizza-Ofen und die Pizza war ordentlich, aber nicht überragend. Auch der Service war ordentlich.Gut und reichhaltig war der Vorspeisen-Salat. Auch die Getränkeauswahl war erfreulich.Alles in allem war das Restaurant weitgehend 08/15: Wie häufig in der Schweiz etwas in die Jahre gekommen, mit einer zu grossen Auswahl für wirkliche Qualität, und mit Personal, das nicht besonders motiviert wirkte, aber auch nicht ärgerte. Wer keinen Geruch nach Käsefondue mag, sollte anderswo essen (vermutlich nirgends in Grindelwald)."

"So first, here are the positives, the views from the top of the mountain are awesome.It does take quite some time to get to the top of the mountain. The tour allows 2 hours at the top of the mountain so deduct that from the total tour and now you can see the travel time. We spent 9 hours on trains and busses getting there. Once there, the place was mobbed with people to the point it was like Disney World crowds. The tour was nice but don't go on the tour with a guide, go on your own as the guides rushed us through the ice palace and the peak of the mountain. Hint, take some snacks with you or pay awful prices for water, food or anything else.Overall an awesome experience to see the beauty but man it's not the Americans that are rude. I could not believe other people that pushed, shoved and ran."
