"Popped in here yesterday with my wife, on a lovely warm day, after completing the Birks of Aberfeldy circular walk. The shop was very busy with families and adults all queuing up to purchase ice cream. A small shop which as well as selling ice...cream, do coffees, and also have a selection of gifts. There is no indoor seating, but there is an outdoor table which has three chairs, if you are lucky enough to see it vacant! I had a tub of ice cream with two flavours strawberry and Scottish tablet, while my wife settled for a single scoop of Scottish tablet ice cream in a small tub. Not the cheapest, but it was good, and we would recommend the Scottish tablet flavour."

"LOVE CARGILL'S Everytime we are in the area we always visit the bistro, even when we are in Perth we travel in to Blairgowrie before doubling back and home to Edinburgh. The food is fantastic, as are the staff, nothing is ever too much bother. I love the variety of the scrumptious food and the cocktails are amazing !! We recently spent time in Blairgowrie for my partners 60th birthday and wouldn't have considered spending it anywhere else other than CARGILL'S. Keep up the good work Thomas and all the staff, See you early in June e"

"Tyrella no longer offers a welcome drink within the set meal but this made no difference to our evening which was lovely. The setting of the cottage is beautiful and we were able to enjoy our pre-dinner drink outside enjoying the views and the garden....We all enjoyed our meal and will return again next year. A very individual and eclectic experience thank you Tyrella."

"Any opportunity our family have, we take trips to Scotland, driving the 8 hours from Wales, knowing we will find a warm welcome everywhere we go. The hospitality of the Scots, together with spectacular scenery and great food make it well worth the journey. In all those years we have never felt unwelcome until we went into the Kirkstyle Inn, Dunning. It is obviously frequented by locals, a local place for local people. They were very busy and there were no tables available inside for dinner so we decided to go into their covered beer garden for drinks and pizza. There were occupied tables to our left and right, both having food, but when we went to order they told us they were not serving food outside. This obviously wasn’t true because everyone around us was eating, without a reservation. This upset the table next to us, so much so, that one of the diners went inside to fight our corner and ask why they wouldn’t serve us food. At that point some large lady came into the beer garden and said the food served outside had been a mistake but we could not have food. She was rude and belligerent. No apology for clearly only feeding favourite customers. We were definitely victimised here, for no reason I can think of. We didn’t make a fuss, just drank up and left. It was so nice of other customers to express their disappointment at how we were treated. I would never recommend this place to visitors. Go at your own risk! They clearly have a captive audience in a small village with no other pubs around. It’s sad they think as a result of their monopoly they can choose to be so dismissive of the people who provide their living. My background is hospitality, hotel management and I can honestly say the customers are our valued bread and butter, never a hindrance. For info we are a couple in our 60s (one celebrating his 60th) adult daughter and fiancé. So disappointing and clearly not the norm for this wonderful part of the world."
