"This place was formerly called Al’s place. it is now called the pizza shack. had simply the most delicious pizza I remember eating. I'll be back soon. can't talk about the pizza here very enough. just so delicious."

"On a tiramisu hunt and this place came up as a possibility to try out. I've seen it for years and it's never hit my radar because it's one of those restaurants that have looked the same for years. When we got there, the carpeted floors and poor ventilation was initially making me regret my decision. It also clearly attracts an older demographic, but has a steady flow of takeaway pizzas on a Friday night.<br/ <br/ Tonight we had bruschetta, marinara risotto, lasagne, and pumpkin agnolotti for dinner. All were very generous servings and well priced. I had read in previous reviews that lasagne was delicious and it's true. So yum. We also had the sticky date and tiramisu. For $9.50 these desserts are great value. The sticky date was literally swimming in sauce probably a bit too much. My verdict of the tiramisu is that it's one of the better ones. Nice and creamy, good flavour and not too soggy. It's one of the few places that do tiramisu well. <br/ <br/ We all rolled out of there in our food comas. I would come back again. The staff were lovely and as a whole it's a relaxing enjoyable night."

"Not just good Italian staples but good food all round catering for gluten and dairy free. Our party of covered all of these. Just don't ask for gluten free bread as that was a disappointment and was charged extra. The food was great so two...pizzas for the boys, market fish and gnocchi for the ladies. All were superb. Wine choices were also very good. I am reading some of the negative reviews which surprise me so I guess we had the A service team."

"Pizzas here are always good. Service is reasonably fast but be prepared to wait a little as they are always busy. It is good to order ahead by phoning the order through. Good range of toppings and style of pizza. They are not the cheapest around but you get what you pay for. They are generous with toppings."

"A small but warm, friendly family restaurant that makes you feel like you're eating at home. Staff are very friendly and service is very efficient. <br/ <br/ We ordered a vegetarian Massaman curry and a pad Thai. As my friend is vegetarian it was great to see how accommodating they were to dietary requirements. Food was nice, wasn't anything special but was satisfying. The curry was sweet and thick, and pad thai isn't overly sweet like many other Thai places. Portions were good for price.<br/ <br/ Overall we had a pleasant dining experience at Mayura and I would definitely recommend to others."

"Was part of a large table booking for a celebration. Didn't hold much hope having read reviews. Firstly, the staff were absolutely wonderful! Very patient, always with a genuine smile and very fast service. Only comment is they assumed we knew the ordering process etc, no explanation and left us to flounder at the start.The a la carte all you can eat food itself was a hit and miss. Noodles were probably the worst being really salty and with an unpleasant taste. The raw fish didn't taste very fresh but the platters came out with a good rice ratio. Agadeshi tofu was pleasantly silky but anemic looking. We all loved the tempura! Delicate, not oily and was very light. Miso eggplant was delicious. The octopus balls were a huge let down for some of us as there didn't seem to be any octopus. Lovely batter not oily but seemed like just mashed potato or something. Dumplings were delicious too!3 dessert choices. Vanilla ice-cream, green tea ice-cream and black sesame ice-cream. Vanilla was unlimited but latter 2 restricted to 1 per person. Skip the sickly sweet vanilla but do try the other 2. Delicious! It was fun trying everything out. Better in a group so can have more opportunity to try dishes. There are warnings wastage will be charged. Can ask for items to be for ie. 2 people otherwise they will bring enough for the whole table."

"So glad to see this Whitehorse favourite reopen. It’s under new owners but the friendly atmosphere and great service remains. And the new menu? AH-MAZING. appies and dishes, all outstanding, comforting, flavour packed parties for your palate. This will return to being our goto for delicious, unpretentious dining in Whitehorse. Congrats to the new owners and we wish you all the best."

"I called in one Saturday lunchtime to make a booking for my husbands birthday, it was a lovely house and very nice interior. There was also a lovely fire making it all very cosy and welcoming, just the right atmosphere for a special romantic dinner for 2. It was nothing like it on the night. There was a D.J. and a disco with horrendous noise with the guy twiddling knobs for rap. The fire was going out and it was getting cooler, we mentioned it but were ignored, poor service with the waiter waitress stood talking and I had to put my hand up twice for service, I asked for water which we didn 't get and again to ask for water. It was very quiet with only 6 tables occupied so no excuse for poor service. We waited a very long time after entrée before the plates were taken and we were asked are you still going ? empty plates except for 2 slices of lemon! We waited for some considerable time and were not asked if we wanted dessert, and so we left after a very disappointing evening stopping off at Coles to buy ice cream. Another couple we met outside also complained about the disco 'noise ' especially as they were sitting in front. It was too loud and the place itself was small and needed 'mood ' music not rap! The black table clothes did nothing to lift the mood. The food was nicely presented, the salad was nice. As an active advocate for businesses in the Yarra Valley I would have liked to have done a better review for this new venue, shame as the place itself looks impressive, in particular for a special occasion or 'some-where nice romantic '."
