"This was our third trip to the new Pelican Club and all have been nice experiences. The lighting and atmosphere is brighter and a little more upscale than the old club. This trip, I had the red snapper on risotto and it was excellent. My wife had the barbeque shrimp and it was a bit salty and slightly overcooked and the bbq sauce had too much worcheshire sauce for our taste. It was OK. The wine list is adequate and service was good. The barbeque shrimp kept me from giving this a 4 star rating."

"Would Highly Recommend, great meats very tender and sauces were awesome. The girl behind the counter was very helpful and was very upbeat. I had what they call the Meat Coma, its 1/4 each of three different kinds of meat. I chose Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Boudin. For my 2 sides I had Green Beans and tomatoes in Butter Garlic sauce, and Chef Ara's Mac Cheese. When my food came out of the Kitchen it was on a Wooden Cutting Board from Ikea and not a plate thought this was very euniqe and cool."

"I can’t recommend the September specials enough! The grouper was cooked perfectly, and the mix of flavors is delightful. We also enjoyed the cream of kale soup. Thank goodness I saved room for the apple pie bread pudding as well. The culinary team is brilliant!"

"We took beef biriyani, chicken biriyani, chicken tikka masala and two butter nuns as a take out. The amount of food was more than adequate for two persons. Both the biriyanis were loaded with meat, with some salad and yogurt. You will get halal food here in Galveston, which is really amazing. Chicken tikka masala tasted amazing with really soft butter nuns. The food lasted us two days. Really delicious!Vegetarian options: You can get vegetable biriyani as well with all other options"

"The last few times we have been to the Porch Cafe it was great. This time it was awful. Our waiter was terrible. Not only bad service but he didn’t know what was in the dishes. He told us we could not get the flatbread we ordered because they ran out of spinach. But there is no spinach listed for the flatbread. However, there was supposed to be spinach in the Shrimp Gnocchi but they substituted asparagus, without asking, which we hate. Also every other table got bread but not us. We also were not offered dessert although the other tables were. We were there for 90 minutes and got 2 drinks (which were watered down because the waiter left them on the bar too long) and 1 altered dish. Then when we finally got the check they still billed us for the flatbread that we never got. It might be a while before we return."
