"We had such a fun and tasty experience with Miho-san, the cook/owner! I was really happy with the great selection of vegan options. it is the perfect cozy, intimate place to go with friends. "Travelling solo as a vegetarian and found this Michelin guide vegan restaurant. You could book through their website. As this week is the Golden week (28 April to 6 May), it might be the reason why some days are fully booked. Standard menu for me at 3,000 Yen for one person. Comes with hot Japanese tea and you could add on sake or beer. Delicate in the variety of flavors in pickled vegetables, soy and root vegetables. You would need to pay additional 500 Yen to get into the Tenruji temple gardens before you can access the restaurant in an obscure corner next to the main hall and the pond. Pleasant experience. You can pay another 300 Yen to see the world heritage site Tenruji temple’s signature dragon painting (which I did not view). Exit the garden at the north gate to have quick access to the bamboo grove."

"Taisho hanana is a restaurant in arashiyama that specializes in tai ochazuke. tuna is only really spread for the last century on Japanese seafood, for many thousands of years before the tai (sea bream) was the popular fish of choice. in this ochazuke, take them raw tai, dive it (in this case with a sesame-ash sauce), put it on their rice, pour tee over their rice and eat them the spices. the tai here, both raw and grilled Saikyo-Mano style, are excellent. how to finish the sortiment of the pickles, the matcha and the warabi mochi desert. As long as they hit the waiting queue, this place is high on the list of the dings that they should try if they happen to stay in kyoto and have some time to stop at the western side. and repeating this waiting queue if they are not early or not in the position to reserve in advance, it can be haufen long and conversion is not so fast."

"First kaiseki for the woman I was so intimidated, but the team of 5-balls in gion karyo made it a very relaxing unforgettable moment for us. only the 2 of us at lunch (viren probably caused this) and gion karyo prepared the 9-course menu masterfully. I would say four were extremely good, five were good. but everything was super fresh. nicely served. the chefs were super friendly, courteous, clear how to eat the elaborate dishes. a bit chat with us exchanged without being overlaid. the service was simply excellent. the place itself is intimate calm, with a small garden at the back. an unforgettable experience. thanks gion karyo!"

"More than the food itself, This is a place to try for its surroundings in the beautiful Ryoanji Temple Recinct. After visiting the temple you have to go towards Teh Kyoyo-chi pond. The restaurant is on the left (there is also an English table). I speak Japanese, so no communication problem, but I think you can also deal with English, although there were no foreigners, both times I went there. You have two Shijin Set menus that turn around yudofu (created tofu). Updated by previous review on 2011-08-22"
