"We had a great time in antico borromeo and eating was amazing. we had initially feared that we only get a tourist treatment in ascona, but borromeo is quite the opposite: it is a family restaurant with passion and the service team. 100% into them: although the restaurant is large, they do not have to wait long and they are still treated as they are the only guest. we're coming back!"

"Hopefully again at least... We have been pampered many times over the years at Hotel Ascovilla, and just as many times at the associated Albarella restaurant. From the great hotel director Margot Faucherre and her team, some of whom have been with us for many years. The head chef is called Samuele Schelker, his deputy Carlo Ruffatti. Excellent every time. New a few days ago was... I was allowed to celebrate a semicircular birthday here with my wife and 16 friends for a weekend. “A warm welcome to Hotel Ascovilla. We are very pleased that you are celebrating the new phase of your life in our house. We promise to do everything we can to ensure that this weekend is to your complete satisfaction. We wish you a pleasant few days at Ascovilla, Margot Faucherre”. Sometimes this was written on the handwritten card in the room. First class, and it was first class gorgeous. Also the kitchen and service in the Ristorante. Even a short, heavy rain shower during the outdoor aperitif with a hasty search for shelter inside the house was professionally managed by the Albarella crew. After the valuable table decoration could be freed from its weather protection, the open sky beckoned again. And the dinner, within the half board: After the salad and appetizer buffet, Parma ham, buffalo mozzarella, peaches and rocket or aubergine parmigiana. Then a carrot cream soup with ginger or fruit juice. For the main course, grilled veal paillard with French fries and green beans or roasted salmon slices on a bed of grilled vegetables and saffron potatoes. Choice of cheese or chocolate mousse and cherries in syrup for dessert. The only disadvantage was that the (celebratory) meal had to come to an end, the lovingly maintained dream garden ambience had to be left and the great rooms had to be visited. Finally, the opulent breakfast awaited the next day... I'm sure I can speak and write on behalf of all the guests: it was excellent and first class, everything food, drink and the service. In other words, the price/performance ratio cannot be beaten. Or in another way, hopefully I can also celebrate a round birthday at the Arabella."

"Ich bin seit über 30 Jahren regelmäßiger Gast in Ascona und aß immer gerne hier bei Gino.Nun war es das erste Mal in all den Jahren, dass ich nicht mehr 100 prozentig zufrieden war.Seit dem Krankheits' bedingten Ausscheiden Gino's führen seine Frau und sein Sohn das Restaurant nun schon einige Jahre sehr erfolgreich weiter. Bisher stand es immer für ein sehr gutes Preis-/Leistungs-Verhältnis.Anscheinend gibt es seit diesem Jahr aber einen neuen Koch. So werden einige Gerichte der Karte nunmehr anders zubereitet - sehr zu meinem Leidwesen.Auch die Portionen wurden kleiner. Gab es früher noch 7 Gamberoni verteilt zu einmal 4 und einmal 3 auf 2 nach einander gereichten Tellern, gibt es jetzt zum selben Preis nur noch 6 auf einmal. Überall sind Veränderungen der Portionen und der Zubereitung spürbar, ob beim Insalata Mista oder den Fagottini.Bitte nicht falsch verstehen: das Essen war gut - aber eben auch nicht mehr. Meine persönlichen Lieblingsgerichte haben leider in der mir bekannten Form keinen Bestand mehr, was schade ist, da ich genau deswegen her kam.Ansonsten kann ich die Weinkarte durchaus empfehlen und bei schönem Wetter den gemütlichen Innenhof."
