"My partner loves a bakery cake, staying in Castlemaine for a few days on our trip around the country we found this place and boy we were impressed ... top quality ingredients, beautifully made and a cut above the usual bakery fare. We enjoyed a summer pudding with anglaise and a Paris brest. I'm pretty sure we will be back before we leave to try one of their homemade pies which all looked amazing and my partner will be taste testing another cale"

"It's good when you go to a Japanese restaurant and you're the only non-Asians (not being racist). It means the food is authentic. Next time we won't have deserts as they aren't worth the price. The food in general was very nice and we can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu."

"Can't cook toast , cant get an order right , cant clean the tables they get you to share with the seagulls. The coffee comes cold .This cafe has gone from bad to shocking .It's time for Melville City council to bulldoze.Avoid the toilets they'll make you heave . Mind you its neck and neck between to cafe area and the cafe toilet as to which has the most dirt ."

"We went to Jens Cafe for lunch recently & it was very crowded with not a lot of space. The food was yummy, but I do think the design / set up, could be improved."

"The decor is nice, the food was tasty, the staff waitress was abrupt and inflexible. I ordered a dish that came with 2 eggs. I asked could I swap one egg for a piece of toast and leave out the salsa salad. Waitress said they...will not alter any menu item so I could not swap the egg for a piece of toast. It’s not a difficult swap and the slice of bread is probably cheaper and easier to cook than an egg. Conversely they were quite happy to leave out the salad but still charge me the same price. Inflexible attitude to a very easy substitution and abrupt tone of voice mean I would not recommend this cafe in a town where there are several other hopefully more friendly and flexible options to try."

"Stopped in for lunch and coffees after walking around Castlemaine's historic houses. Although comfortable, seemed unprepared for providing lunch on a Sunday of Cup Weekend. The service was slow and without any personality or passion, not as we expected from its surroundings. Disappointed..."
