"Parked in the village hall car park, walked the 2 hour nearby tramway walk including a coffee at the Nat Trust car park log cabin. Then finished the walk at the Staff of Life sat outside in the sunshine with dog, a pint of Tim Taylors, a very nice ploughmans served by very pleasant staff who served up a biscuit for my dog. A really good day topped by a visit to this really nice country pub."

"Food was excellent as usual. Service though was dire. We were presented with our meals by a meathead who didn’t place the plates onto the table but dropped them onto the table, the same with the cutlery. When I looked at him he stared back then walked off. Normally the service here is good."

"Here a couple of times now and that eating is good, various packings and kebabs, although not trying to fish and chips. Unfortunately, it feels like it's a sacrifice of its own success, it's always chaotic. fair enough when eating is cooked to order, they expect a bit to wait, but tonight, waited for 40 minutes for 2 kebabs according to the said it would be 10 to 15 minutes. looks as if people were wise and pre-ordered over the phone, which simply adds to the waiting time when they go in. I hope they sorted it. especially on a Friday night."

"Visited Calke Abbey and Googled for local pubs with a garden. This pub does have a garden but it is poorly maintained and not attractive. Shan't be going back."

"Hubby I decided to have our 'Date Night ' at the Stenson Fields as their food was amazing on her previous visit. We had a 40% off mains deal, so we were looking forward to not only good food but saving money too!! We were greeted with warm smiles from staff at the bar there was a really lively buzzing atmosphere everywhere. Fortunately we booked a table on line which was a good call as most of the tables were either being used or reserved due to how popular Stenson Fiends is. Due to how busy they were with meal orders, we other customers were told regrettably our meals would take 45mins which we didn 't mind as we enjoyed drinks played card games chatted while waiting. Our food on arrival was well presented. My Scampi chips was piping hot with more than a generous portion of succulent Scampi. My husband 's Chilli unfortunately wasn 't as hot or as tasty/spicy as he imagined a Chilli to be but he ate it all the same as he was hungry. The Cheesy Garlic Bread he had as a side order was hot tasty we enjoyed our drinks too! Our table waiter was polite cheerful to us we witnessed this towards everyone else around us. We would still return to the Stenson as the service was great despite the Chilli issue."

"Poor service. Ordered via Just Eat, driver didn't collect. Not the restaurants fault. I rang them to chase my order only to fobbed off and told to contact Just Eat. No attempt to solve the issue. Apparently they don't get the customer contact details so we're unable to contact me. I find this difficult to believe. Earlier on the same evening another restaurant contacted me about an order I had placed through Just Eat on behalf of my parents. If they had my number, why didn't KC? I realise that it's the driver not picking up that was the first issue, something the restaurant can't control. But to be fobbed off on the phone as I was is not acceptable."
