"My husband and I are in Canberra visiting for a few nights on business. We couldn't decide what to have for dinner and after walking past Mr Zees we decided to eat here. And thank gosh we did!! It was sooooo yummy and reasonably priced considering how much food we got. We are sitting here now after eating such a delicious meal and talking about how we wished we had one of these restaurants back home. I can't wait to come back here again tomorrow for lunch"

"Regular readers will know how I love a good burger – and pickles, I’m a sucker for pickles. So it’s no surprise that I’m always willing to try the burger on the menu, which is exactly what I did when we holed up at Hopscotch on a particularly chilly afternoon. Which burger, I hear you ask? The specials menu offered a pulled beef burger with wholegrain mustard and pickles. Sold. The food took a surprisingly long time to come out, given how quiet the place was, but when it did the plate was packed full of chips (and there was plenty of burger too). "Great meal. Cosy little restaurant with good, friendly service. Solid beer list with some nice local breweries in the bottle and on tap. I tried a red IPA from Goulburn, not my cup of tea, but a brave beer to serve. The wine list is solid, matches the food well, and is not outrageously priced.<br>

The food is great, we had beautiful fresh oysters, spicy lamb cigars, and for main the steak and lamb. We even had a side of Brussels sprouts, with garlic and bacon. Yum!"

"I absolutely loved it here, the staff were friendly, especially Daniel Zivkovich, one of the owners. I asked about one of the hot sauces on display and he very helpfully explained the background, and ingredients, tastes and info. He told me all about how it was made, and about Unscripted Fermentation, who ferments the chillies and other ingredients. I then bought some of the hot sauce (Pucker Punch) and moved on to ordering. I ordered a smaller Chai Latte, a piece of Salted Vanilla loaf, and a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. All of the food was exquisite, the best lunch I’ve had in a long time. The other staff was very nice as well, I had some good convos about food with them. I highly recommend coming to Barrio, my favourite place in Australia. I recommend getting the toastie specifically, though I have gone back multiple times since my first visit, and also really enjoyed the Golden Curry, though I’m not sure if it’s still on the menu. Hope to see you there, and hope you enjoy it!"
