"We visited here with Family and our Dog during July and where really impressed. The restaurant had a play area where my nephews could play and was dog friendly so ticked all the boxes. The food was really tasty and the portion sizes where great...and it also had a great range of drinks. The staff where really friendly and made you feel welcome. When we next return to Devon, we will come back here."

"We haven't visited this pub for some time, how pulled away, but last week we were for a walk on the moors and decided to dive back on the way. I had forgotten what a jewel this place is. we thought of a drink, ended the conversation and a few friendly faces came up, which led to stay longer. a solution was found. steve, the “famous” renter said that he had a field that we had so happy at the back of the pub we had the van and we decided to stay. what a night. I do not remember the last time I laughed so much, discussed the world problems and treated many themes. what a really pleasant random night. ends with us sat on the field and observed a spectacular meteorite shower that filled the sky. the next day woke and saw from the window to see horses, sheep and a beautiful summer morning. chatted to a few other campers and the tour of the renter came by and offered us very friendly a coffee before we left. we are looking forward to a return trip very soon and will be prepared. this is a truly unique hidden gem on exmoor and expects the unexpected. a night to remember for a very long time"

"If you sit outside on the picnic tables, there will be plenty of chaffinches and robins popping by to pick up the crumbs! Jacket potatoes are generous in both size and fillings and the home-made coleslaw doesn't have any onion in it, hooray!!"

"A weeks stay in the area and a recommended visit to this restaurant. It's well off the beaten track down a narrow winding road (like most in this area.. There is nothing pretentious about the place. Welcoming staff, basic tables and seating and a menu for all to stand and choose from on the board above an arch. So the food. Well cooked and presented, but to me nothing over special and if anything a tad over priced. Dog friendly and dog welcome at least 3 tables had dogs with them on our visit. Would I visit again? Likely."

"Eaten here a couple of times over the years and it 's usually busy but OK. But on Saturday we had our annual get together with distant friends ruined by such a poor experience. I appreciate that it can be difficult when a restaurant loses a service and it all starts to go wrong, but the key thing to do is make sure the customers know what it going on and don 't lie to them or treat them like they are the problem. Our table was booked for 7.30 and we didn 't get our mains delivered until 9.30. A real problem with hungry kids. We did manage to cajole some olives and pitta to the table inside those 2 hours, but this turned out to give them another excuse to blame us for our food taking so long! Lots of places are short staffed, but if your kitchen is under pressure, come and talk to the customers and let them know what 's happening. We 're nice people, and we 'll understand if you come and offer us something in the meantime. But don 't hide away or even worse tell us it 'll be ready in 10 minutes when it clearly isn 't going to be. When we finally got hold of someone who knew what was happening she then tried to tell us we had ordered too late, which was ironic as we couldn 't get anyone to come and take our order! So all in all, what should have been a really nice evening ruined our whole day. At the end, the restaurant manager did take 50% off our food bill, but hey, come and tell us you 're going to do that when you know it 's gone wrong don 't save that up until after we 've had to have a row with you about it all! We won 't be back. The place will be rammed all the time anyway I 'm sure as it 's Croyde, but it would be nice to think somewhere there might read this and actually just say sorry to us. It wasn 't our fault you were too busy to deal with the bookings you had taken, so why make us feel like it was and spoil our weekend away?"
