"Phoscao Cafe doesn't look like much from the street but once inside it's a cozy and welcoming spot to have a coffee, tea or fruit drink. Even in the summer, I enjoy a hot chocolate at the table outside in the morning. In the winter, the corner fireplace is a great spot to sip and read. A variety of complimentary magazines and newspapers are available.The baked goods and sandwiches are reasonably priced and the cinnamon buns are a personal favourite."

"The Beef Brisket Pot Pie is truly the best in the West. Great gravy, tender beef and golden crust served with salad and potatoes. I skipped the potatoes and had dessert a chocolate stuffed croissant topped with chocolate sauce. Finish your meal with a cuppa Salt Spring Island Coffee."

"It's a deli, not a restaurant but we've been getting our Thanksgiving turkey and all the trimmings dinner for a large family group (up to 30) from Max's for years and they haven't disappointed. Plenty of food, well prepared and every year there seems to be a standout item for me. This year it was the candied yams. We supplement with a few family favorites but there really is no need to. Max's makes it possible for us to celebrate en masse without some people being stuck in a hot kitchen cooking all day. When we lived in Vancouver, Max's was our favorite and much frequented place for all kinds of tasty and healthy prepared food. I recommend them."

"Lovely family restaurant, very tasty, we were 3 couples and had Eggplant Parmesan, minute steak , served with delicious mushroom sauce and sautéed mixed seafood in marinara sauce. Our friend started straight away with the cakes- flan and also apple strudel- excellent. Cody atmosphere and friendly good service."

"My husband & I had the Christmas set menu with options on Christmas Eve. The location is just off to the side of the Metropolitan hotel lobby. Cozy in size greeters were friendly. We were sat near the back of the restaurant away from the bar & kitchen so unfortunately not much to look at. Service was good. Food was nice & I felt a fairly decent value considering it was Christmas Eve. Bartender mixed up some nice cocktails upon our request, but be stern with which level of alcohol you want used or you'll end up with a cheaper version. No issues & everything was good I'm just not sure it's worth a repeat visit."

"If you have a passion for Montreal Smoked meat, then Dunn's on Seymour, just south of Robson is the place to go to in Vancouver. Authentic. The smoked meat is exactly what you'd expect from a Montreal deli, in your choice of lean, medium or very juicy (more fatty) cuts in either a 4 oz., 6 oz. or an 8 oz. serving. For me, I usually go for the 6 oz medium so I can combine it with either a side of their freshly cut fries, or a side of their wonderful potato salad. Their extensive menu hosts a range of other sandwiches, from pulled pork, to Rueben's, beef dip and more. You'd likely be intrigued by their offering of six different poutines, which start with their fresh cut fries and include their from-scratch beef gravy. I have tried the cheesecake and can attest that is is both authentic and very good."
