"There was a shout out to the Five Mile in on RedFM, saying it was the best breakfast in Cork, and I can only agree with that claim. It may not be the fanciest of breakfasts, but a good Irish breakfast shouldn't be, what you want is plenty of tasty food, tea, toast and hospitality and that is exactly what we got. Very tasty breakfast items all well cooked, sausage bacon,pudding, fried egg, mushrooms, potato and tomato, proper sliced pan toast with plenty of butter, good proper tea and a hospitable server and owner. 3 full breakfasts, multiple refills of tea, extra toast, a waffle with caramel sauce and more toast,a glass of fresh OJ and 4 snack bars all under €50. Worthy of its RedFM shoutout!!"

"We have been to Silver Springs many times. We've stayed there on several occasions as a couple and with our grandchildren. We loved the hotel and whenever we were looking after our grandchildren we always took them out for dinner in the hotel as a treat. So on Saturday, 6th February we got dressed up...myself, himself, granddaughter aged 7 and grandson aged 4 and very excitedly headed to Silver Springs. We arrived around 6pm. Waiter took our order. An hour later with grandson now fast asleep, our meal arrived. The food was OK apart from the pasta ordered for sleeping little man which was dry and uninteresting. ..We were very disappointed with the service. When we complained we received no response. I am really upset because we will never go back again to a hotel which used to be so good."

"What a pity that the wonderful food at Holy Smoke was let down by the poor service we got on our visit last weekend. Having been to Holy Smoke before, and really enjoying it, I was really looking forward to a return on Friday night last. I'd expected it to be full but it was actually half empty. So it was a real surprise to us that our food took so long to come 40 minutes from the time of ordering! When it did come, however, it was truly delicious. Mouth water, soft meat falling off the bone and the fries were pretty good too. The decor is also very cool and it has a nice atmosphere. However the service.... it took more than half an hour before we were told about the delay to our food. When I ordered a beer, I was waiting 15 minutes only for the waitress to come over and ask if we needed anything... when I reminded her of the beer, she went and got it saying the delay was due to changing the keg, when she had clearly just forgotten my order by asking if we needed anything. At no stage were we asked if everything was ok, our water was not refreshed and our table was avoided for the rest of the evening, all on a night when the place was half empty. Very poor experience."

"Just literally left bull McCabe's as we sometimes use it as a stop off for going to airport. Just wanna say most importantly that the pints were great and fresh and we got talking to this absolutely gent of a guy named Derek who we subsequently learned was the gaffer. We had a wonderful 3 hrs discussing stuff we knew about as Derek also knew our own home town from his experiences . A lovely couple of hours talking and to top it off Derek gave us food on the house to help us on our journey . Highly recommend bulls and thank you Derek and the hard working girls there also . Superb place . Bad news is I can't catch a flight anymore instead of visiting you "
