"Although the Nova Scotia pub has good food and is friendly. It needs a good face lift and the open mic event is welcoming from most members to people of colour, but there are a few members that is still happy to participate in racist jokes/ words and refrain from welcoming you into the club. In fact they were told about their racist comments in the past, but continue with their under cover racism. Sonic"

"I understand this place has new owners and are working to improve it. With that qualifier....There are many options in the surrounding area. Exercise them! This is a rundown place that needs a lot of TLC. The halls are dark and need to be updated from the early 90s (my best guess.) Free breakfast is nothing more than muffins, bagels, canned fruit, juice, and coffee. The "high speed" wi-fi is HORRIBLE. It is no better than dial-up. I complained until they provided me with their password for the front desk's wi-fi. I had to sit in the restaurant up front but at least I could get some work done. The place is just tired. It is absolutely not worth what they charge. Stay somewhere else."

"We stopped in for dinner and weren't too impressed from the start. At first we were seated near the kitchen but someone was throwing silver into a drawer and it was loud! We moved to another seat away from that noise but the acoustics in the dining room were such that a couple in the middle of the room could be heard very clearly where we were seated. It took forever for the waitress to come get our order (my partner had to go looking for her.) We ordered and the waitress didn't know about one of the menu items (escargot) and had to check on that. When we ordered our entree's my partner has very specific needs and told the waitress about them. When our appetizers arrived they were really tasty. The turkey soup was homemade and super delicious. When the entrees arrived my husband found that his sandwich had stuff other then mushrooms on it when he had asked for only mushrooms and cheese. The meal had to be redone. Both our meals were delicious. Simple and fresh fair. The place was also very clean which is important to us and there were lots of choices on the menu. Prices were reasonable but with the noise and the haphazard service I would be inclined to try another place next time I visit Amherst."
