"A 70th birthday meal for a group of 26. the event was a big success. good communication with the employees in the pre-season of the meal. Many of the choices and when the food came, we all found it delicious. (unbelievable to serve the children the...hisky ice cream was creepy! They all slept well in the night. the personal is very pleasant. light mix with the birthday cake they very smoothly sorted out. would definitely recommend this place for a group meal."

"Can recommend this cafe/restaurant in the most glowing terms. The staff were very welcoming when I popped in to check the menu and reserve a table for an evening meal. The service was excellent and the choice of drinks and food was great. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere and my lentil soup and haddock with a mustard sauce were outstanding."

"So handy for breakfast when catching an early ferry from the Calmac terminal in Oban. Excellent bacon sandwich with black pudding. Specialising in local products from a small area around Oban , clearly mapped and fotos of the producers . This place deserves to do...well . Very friendly and efficient service ."

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"

"Visited as nowhere would let us in, asked for carbonara without cream and got given a carbonara that was devoid of any egg. Spaghetti, Parmesan pancetta???? Anyone who’s got access to YouTube knows that you can’t make a carbonara without eggs. Ordered another pasta dish that was okay, despite it saying it had chicken and king prawns in it, it actually had two prawns in it so not exactly plentiful. It would make an Italian reel back in horror though as it had BBQ chicken in it along with peppers. Not the most traditional. I’ll give two stars because one is that we were seated quickly, and another because the beer was alright. Can understand why there was space on a busy weekend though, won’t be back."
