"Pros: • friendly efficient service • their own bitter’s worth a try • very clean • lovely piece of mackerel to start with • tremendous large haddock chips for main course my family can also recommend the scampi and cheddar ploughman’s • great value for money Cons: • the area where you can take dogs is functional rather than cosy, though you can perhaps understand why. N.B. When they said it was a large haddock and chips, they weren’t messing about. I don’t remember having such a large portion elsewhere and the same could perhaps be said about my son’s scampi and chips. They were both fabulous but we couldn’t have faced a dessert for love nor money afterwards."

"Came today for a family lunch, 10 of us. What amazing service, the food was first class, delicious, plenty of it and piping hot I stupidly burnt my fingers after being told... careful the plate is very hot.. that'll teach me) Considering there were 10 of us, all with different meal choices, the service was top notch...all delivered roughly the same time. Will definitely eat here again. Thank you Vegetarian options: Nut roast was delicious Food: 5"

"On Monday, May 28th, we took part for lunch at the bank holiday. a party with 8 and 2 dogs, the atmosphere was relaxed and the staff was brilliant and friendly. we tried many dings that were new for some of us, spider crab, scallops and cooked oysters, and everything was excellent! I recommend this restaurant to all, they even had a separate menu for dogs (although they could not come past the doggie ice cream)!"

"We ate dinner again at the mussel in tonight, it is so excellent. Great welcome, great draft jail ale, food is amongst the best we have had. Staff very welcoming and friendly, can’t recommend it enough. We had monk fish Thai tai curry, mussel burger,1 kg mussels and fish and chips, loved it all for my wife’s birthday, well done all, would not hesitate to come back next time , lovely evening."

"A warm welcome and four very happy diners! My husband and I had gammon, the best gammom steaks ever and our friends chose the fish and chips which they said were delicious. All the meals were beautifully presented and plentiful, definitely the best meal eaten...out in a very long time and we shall be back for more."

"We had booked a table for on Saturday evening at and when ewe arrived on time the manger oldish lady told us that our booking was for pm and she never would accept a booking for and...told us to go away.It was no surprise to note that there was no-one else in the restaurant eating just table of having a drink.She was very abrupt would not return."

"You need to book to eat here as you may or may not get a table if you just turn up. It is worth it though as the food is consistently excellent. Although steaks are their speciality they do a wide range of other foods too and have a good vegetarian options. The views from the hotel are stunning as you can see right down to Plymouth Sound. Worth a trip out to get friendly down to earth service and fantastic food"
