"A lovely, smart but casual place think bright and airy but with dogs welcome. We visited on a Sunday with just the Sunday lunch menu on. It was so tasty, especially the roast itself. Plus you really must try the White Chocolate Blondie a favourite of the Lord and Lady we were told. The team are really welcoming, that great balance of friendly but not intrusive. Well worth a visit if you're anywhere nearby."

"We did not stay at the hotel, but had a meal in the dining room as a golden wedding anniversary celebration. The atmosphere was very peaceful and relaxed and the meal was very good hot and fresh. Unfortunately, there was an error on our final bill, but the staff corrected it without any fuss."

"We were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation here after a long day on Scafell Pike. Both myself and my partner had a 14” vegan pizza each it was divine! Returned the following night to try the Wellington as it looked so good and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend a 3 course meal here (if you can afford it) the soup of the day and sticky toffee pudding were also to die for."

"Yes I do eat out a lot especially cafés. I only give honest reviews sometimes too honest . Called in on the off chance the weather would stay clement . It's a café we have visited before with excellent food. Now offering takeaway. As usual...we must support them. This time roast beef sandwich and turkey and cranberry sandwich. Presented in takeaway box . Good fresh bread , very fresh salad with cous cous. Followed by( I know I shouldn't have delicious fruit strudel . Coffee and tea were very good. Luckily it stayed fine so we had a very pleasant lunch in the church yard watching the swallows . Highly recommended this café "
