"Late arrival on a Friday. The staff was very kind despite the time. Good suggestions and all the food was tasty. We liked the warm fromage, steak tartare, duck confit and the apple tart. Don't expect a fancy place but a honest restaurant where you are well taken care of."

"Prenez le temps de vous arrêter dans ce restaurant où l'on peut en partie voir les cuisiniers à l'oeuvre. Tout est frais, local et vraiment excellent! J'ai pris un pavé de truite sauce au citron avec des tagliatelles fraîches, un délice. Mon compagnon a lui pris la bavette, compotée d'échalotes, pommes de terre, salade, tout aussi bon! De plus, le serveur était très sympathique. Vraiment je recommande ce restaurant, mais pour les petits budgets, allez y le midi!"

"Limited but unusual menu of the day. Food was for me plentiful but I could see the males in our party mentally questioning the volume, if not the unusual range of vegetables! The food was excellent, full of natural flavour and the dishes put in front of us had clearly been studied carefully by the innovative chef. The dining is small but has a quirky industrial charm. We thought the main courses and desserts were on the expensive side, but neither the restaurant nor the menu can be said to be pedestrian. Our choice of wine was mid range in price but turned out to be a very very palatable Menetou Salon."

"The staff were extremely friendly and even though we were quite late for lunch they were happy to serve us. My mother is a vegetarian and it’s been difficult to find anything but salad for her but they were willing to make a delicious omelette...with vegetable rice for her. She said it was very tasty. The tomato gazpacho soup was amazing and my husband uttered the words...”this is the most delicious tomato soup ever!” My husband forget his mobile phone on the tables outside and only after a couple of hours at the Cognac Houses did we realise. The staff were still there and his phone was safely at the bar. We will definitely return when in Cognac again. The atmosphere, service and food was excellent!"
