"After eating there several times, we hadn't been there in several years, since my father passed away. We took my mother there for dinner last Friday night and on walking in immediately recognized differences. The French owners used to greet people, but they weren't there. It was fairly empty and quiet. It was chilly inside. We now assume that they owners sold the venue. Overall, the food was below average. Since when in a French restaurant do you get aioli served with your bread rather than butter. I asked for butter to be brought to the table. The mussels my wife ordered were not bad, but my appetizer...my tarte appetizer was disappointing, with the pastry very thick and moist, not flaky, and pears not fresh, the gorgonzola sparse, the walnuts candied, not plain. My Mom's onion soup was thick, overloaded with cheese, and not the finer, more delicate soup they used to serve. My wife's hanger steak was thin, not very tasty, and not the best cut of meat. Her lavender fries were not bad. My boeuf bourguinon was very average...a thick mess that was over-seasoned with herbs...not fine cooking at all. My Mom had the St. Jacques as a main...the scallops were OK, but overly-drowned in their baked cheese with little flavoring. The creme brulee' we shared was nothing special. This restaurant used to be very good, and great value for the price. On a scale of 1-10 of French restaurants(I used to travel to France for business twice a year over a 25 year period) this restaurant was probably a 7.5-8. Right now I'd rank it around a 3. We were extremely disappointed and will certainly not return. Our meal, with one bottle of an OK B&G wine, not great, came to $180. We tipped well, because of the service, but the food was truly not worth it. The few photos on the website must be carryovers from how it use to look, and don't reflect what this place is today. I'm sad to have to write this review, but I need to be honest."

"Veal piccata, datei of the sole, grilled lamb chops all well. Salad of mixed salat and tomato with vinaiigrette and blue cheese cries always well. my only complaining about eating is the boring less than tasteful suppening course. no longer changes, always bland.b otherwise an excellent culinary experience."

"Worth the wait! They did a great job giving the old Saska's the facelift it so desperately needed! It's still the awesome old school hangout, with a sexy new finish! Food and drink are exceptional as always... would recommend to EVERYONE in San Diego!!"

"Tried this with a group of friends for Dine About Town promotion. Just about the only time I’ll drag myself out to nicer places. ; It’s located in Soma near a bunch of warehouses and really close to 80. The place is small and cute. There are only a few tables and the staff is always very attentive. It’s classic french food done well. I would go back again when they’re not doing DAT promotion because the prices aren’t that much more."
