"Worte can't describe my dear to this little brunch place. three and a half years ago my family and I visited edinburgh for the first time and met us at the southern cross cafe to breakfast. the cute decor, wonderful personal and amazing eating ensured a return visit to our second morning, which we almost never do, as we usually decide to try new places when we travel. I returned to edinburgh with friends. somehow I tracked this place and it wasn't disappointed. the decor was the same, eating and coffee as delicious. the personal had changed, but they were even more friendly! between my two friends and we shared the big belter, not knowing what we set ourselves up. enough to say we probably left a third of the plate behind us, although we put ourselves beyond our borders! in the grunde, go! I will spend every morning here when I visit this city:"

"This little un-assuming cafe became our fall back for decent coffee, tea and sandwiches. It is a gourmet oasis in desert of deep fried food. Their cakes and snacks are lovely. As a black coffee drinker, they had the best beans in the city. Super friendly staff."

"Came here the night before Edinburgh marathon after panicking that we hadn’t booked anywhere. Can’t believe they weren’t fully booked it’s a lovely small traditional feeling restaurant, really friendly and the food was delicious. Only a couple of options for me as a venue but I had the waitress’s recommendation and it was perfect."

"Absolute favourite in Edinburgh. Visited as couple. Fantastic service, very knowledgeable and fun team. The food was super delicious and could eat there every day. Very fresh and tasty seafood. Oysters as fresh as you get them straight from a boat. The wine was good as well. Had the shallot mussels, one full pot, I couldn't finish. The sauce was amazing too. Everything just top! My partner had the shellfish pasta, it was perfectly cooked and the sauce really nice. Good portion. It's a simple restaurant but I guess you come there for the food. We had a table booked for Thursday night, but there seemed to be free tables as well for walk ins. Would come back again and again."

"A nice restaurant with a nice staff. The place has a genuine traditional Italian feeling with atmosphere, food and drink. The smell when you go is of amazing Italian food. Lunch is incredibly valuable and comes with first-class food. Drinks are very expensive and the waiter was nice. The food came out quickly and was a great temperature. We'll be back soon."
