"A trip to Porto isn't complete without a walk along the sea from Foz to Matosinhos and lunch of grilled sardines na brasa. This place is perfect friendly, clean, cheap and cheerful. It's not grand. We sat outside on plastic chairs practically in the...traffic but sometimes that's just what you need. This place calls itself the King of the Sardine and who am I to argue? We ordered Super Bock, a dose' of sardines and a big mixed salad. We got what we asked for and, in addition, on the house, an aperitif of fried whitebait with great big chunks of softened garlic. They didn't last long. All grilled sardines are not the same. These were fat, chunky, grilled to perfection and served with boiled potatoes. Utterly delicious, joyous things. The locals and there were a LOT of locals were eating rather more exotic fish (there was everything on the menu but we wanted sardines, no question). A lovely salad with sweet onions and fat, grobbly tomatoes which just oozed flavour. And big lumps of crusty bread. Were we happy? Yes were were. Will we go back? Yes we will."

"This is a quiet restaurant, in matosinhos sul. packaging is to find ostern and eating is with carefree. the quality for fish is very good. during the sardine season it is possible to have them very fresh. they have outside places for lunch or diner. personel very profissional and beautiful."

"It's a little hike from central Porto (not difficult with car GPS) parking can be difficult, but we're so glad that we came. The area is not particularly charming (it's essentially shipyards), but apparently the place for fresh seafood. Most of the restaurants...in this area have the same setup: small restaurant plus a glass-walled pod (the size of a small shipping container) on the sidewalk with a huge grill. You can see huge plumes of smoke as they grill the fish! Warm welcome and very friendly service. Super fresh fish in a non-touristy setting. Dinner with house wine was each. DOn't know how this compares to the similar restaurants in the area, but we had a great time"

"Located near the Matosinhos Fish Market (Matosinhos is right beside Porto, a little bit to the north), this restaurant is an excellent choice if you are looking for some fresh fish. We had Lulinhas Fritas (fried squid) which were very well cooked and tasty, some friends also tried the Robalo (bass) and the traditional Bacalhau (codfish) which were also praised. The staff was always on alert and extremely nice even with us staying very late and being the last customers to leave. They also have a private park which is great for those who bring their car or a rental since the street is very busy with lots of restaurants around. If I had to point out some negative aspect I'd say the limited choice of wines (especially green wines that are great to serve with a fish dish) and their wine prices, they were rather steep. Overall it was a very good dinner experience and I'd recommend the place to anyone."
