"The ambiance here is nice, everything is red and gold. I came here with my family for dinner. What i really like about this place is that it also has alternatives such as coffee and soda as drinks. The good was not too greasy, it was intact good and healthy . They offer an array of choices such as shark fin soup, etc.... It was fun trying out new things in a comfortable environment."

"You know you can always count on Mui Garden to satisfy your curry craving. Being from Hong Kong and all, home style cooking gives such a personal touch and reminds me of home. Dishes like Minced Pork Chili Beans, Sweet and Sour Pork, and their daily soup tastes super authentic!<br/ <br/ For this visit, I got my two favourite dishes from here: Curry Chicken with Rice and Sweet and Sour Pork. The Curry Chicken order comes with a drink or soup. As it was a cold day, we chose the soup! For those who haven't had Chinese soups before, they tend to be made with bones scraps (Chinese people don't waste anything bones from meats give the soup a great flavour). The soup usually contains some chopped up turnips, carrots, and parsnips as well. It's a light broth unlike cream soups.<br/ <br/ The Curry Chicken is amazing as usual. The chicken is consistently tender with the softest skin that slips right off. The sauce is creamy with just the right amount of spice, mixed with green and red peppers. I absolutely love how every Asian cuisine has their own different type of curry. When it comes to Chinese curry, you'll know to expect a heavy, creamy sauce. A lot of Chinese dishes/sauces are meant to be mixed with plain rice, which explains the strong flavours in most dishes!<br/ <br/ Without a doubt, Mui Garden is my ultimate favourite place to get Sweet and Sour Pork. It's rare to find a restaurant that serves this dish with every piece still crispy! The pork is deep fried, and topped off with a red, sweet, and sour sauce. In the sauce, there's also vegetables like peppers and onions and fruits like pineapple and lychee!"

"Place offers a mix of Chinese food found at popular Restaurants in Richmond ranging from Xiao Long Pao to sweet and sour chicken to spicy dishes. The portions are smaller but very flavourful and tasty! I placed a spoon next to the dish in the pictures below so you can gauge the size. You can request the bigger dishes and also request to make some of the dishes less spicy. The place used to be an old strip mall mainstay, New HK Restaurant but has now been taken over by new owners and renovated. Plenty of parking and centrally located in the Garden City and Blundell area. Waitresses were friendly and spoke English. Menu has pictures which helped us a lot. Credit cards, cash and debit is accepted. Place can get busy at peak times. We have been repeat customers."

"Friends introduced us to this restaurant even though we frequent this strip mall and have walked by it numerous times through the years. They said that the sweet and sour pork was really good so I had to try the dish for myself. Over the years, I can count the number of times on one hand I have ordered take out Chinese food. Over the last 4 weeks I have ordered take out 3 times; basically too lazy to cook after going to the gym. On this last occasion, I ordered Singapore fried rice noodles $9.50) and Cantonese sweet and sour boneless pork $10.95). The total bill with taxes came to $21.47. Both were authentic dishes and tasted pretty good. The rice noodle dish was advertised as spicy but not spicy at all. I’ve had this dish at other restaurants and it is never spicy; basically a mild curry powder used in the dish. The sweet and sour pork had the right amount of sweet and sour. On another occasion we ordered the black bean sauce beef rice noodles flat wide noodles like fettuccine); another authentic tasting dish. Ratings Breakdown • Quality and taste – above average. 3.5 out of 5 rating • Portion size vis à vis price – Dishes were above average value given the size of the dish and the amount paid. For example, the Singapore noodle dish is in the $15 range at Number 9 Restaurant. 3.75 out of 5 rating • Service – The takeout order took less than 10 minutes. 3.75 out of 5 rating I would rate the overall food experience as trending towards good 3.75 out of 5 rating. Notes Tips: • If you’re going to order sweet and sour pork, order the Cantonese Sweet and sour pork that is deep fried and then pan fried the authentic version). The other version is battered deep fried pieces of pork served with a sweet and sour sauce. On all 3 occasions I have ordered the Cantonese sweet and sour pork. • Credit cards accepted • Limited seating inside – seating for approximately 10 people. • 10% discount for takeout over $25. "It was my father who first talked us into giving this restaurant a try as he was impressed with their food and service. We went on a weekday as we knew that parking on the streets would be a problem on the weekends as that area is usually jam packed with cars. Off the topic, if you are into watching a parade of exotic race cars driven by folks who have just attained the legal age to drink, that is where you should hang out on a Saturday night. There is parking at the back of the restaurant but you may end up with some free gifts, a dent on your car door and seagull deposit on your windshield .We ordered the Pork Liver Soup with Mustard Greens, Steamed Flounder on Lotus Leaf, Sweet and Sour Pork, Deep Fried Oysters and Noodles with Shrimp Roes. The soup was highly recommended by our affable waitress although it may not be everyone's cup of tea. Anyway, it was delicious and the livers were full of flavor and not overcooked. The flounder was steamed the traditional way with slivers of pork and mushrooms on top. It was fresh, delectable and masterfully steamed. The oysters tasted fresh although they came from a container and they were beautifully deep fried, kudo to the chef for double deep frying the oysters to achieve crispness without greasiness. The sweet and sour was a disappointment as the sauce was as blend as tap water. Finally, the noodles, despite the small portion, was al dente and chewy, sprinkled with a generous amount of shrimp roes.Unfortunately, we have gone back on three occasions and while we ordered similar dishes, they had dropped from stellar to mediocre. On our last visit, the noodles with wontons that we ordered was hilarious. The wontons were the size of golf balls and the shrimps inside were disproportionately large. In this case, bigger is not better as everything must compliment each other.Being a consumer these days is no easy task. We get frustrated with restaurants that do not meet our standard and even more so when they become inconsistent. In the meantime, I am looking for a reason to go back one more time."
