"I have visited this restaurant on many occasions as it caters for coeliac ‘s like my self but on visiting today I would say to anyone avoid at all costs. Myself and my mother were masked on entry and the sign in the entry way...states ring bell on counter. As I approached the counter to do this I can only say I was barked at to sit down please. We went to do this as the lady serving approached saying she didn’t want to be too close to anybody at the moment but whilst not wearing a face covering or visor another covering is not possible. I asked about gluten free and she told me she would have to check the lady returned saying yes I could have it but it would be a wait. I said yes that’s fine as I expect to wait for GF food. She then went on to re iterate the wait saying that if it became busy down stairs my wait would be longer. At this point we were made to feel we were just an inconvenience I questioned that she said I would have to wait longer sitting in the restaurant than customers walking through the door. At this point the server realised that I was angry and upset at her attitude and changed her manner even referring to me as honey which at that point was frankly insulting. I put my cost back on and left. I would recommend to anyone who doesn’t mind being spoken to abruptly and rudely and who doesn’t mind being made to feel like an inconvenience but other than that avoid at all cost"

"It was ok, but unfortunately does not match the quality prices of the rooms. We were here for a special anniversary, while this would be good for the daily meal, this did not meet the brand for a special occasion. I believe there is a second restaurant that is fine food, but unfortunately it was not open at the time of our stay."

"It’s early October and I turned up at so I was safe from some of the issues described in previous reviews.Being quite hungry, I bypassed the tea scones option for the Beef Gravy Bap with chips. It was just okay: the beef was rather tasteless, but at least it was tender, and the gravy tasted like it was made from granules rather than the real thing. The chips were alright too, a better quality cook from frozen product. The bap was nondescript, not giving the impression that it had seen a local bakery. However, at it was fairly priced for a popular Yorkshire market town.I had the Colombian coffee served in a metal carafe, which could have used one more spoonful of ground beans, but it would be harsh to downgrade a review on that basis.The servers were loud but friendly, with no trace of the attitude issues mentioned before. I could see, however, how that might change when under pressure.Unfortunately, I noticed the large, fresh scones cake being served to a neighbouring table all too late. They looked absolutely wonderful and most likely substantial enough to have accommodated my hunger. Of course I didn’t taste them, but if you can go by looks alone, they certainly delivered. Next time!"

"Went here for lunch with my husband and we both had a pork, apple and gravy ciabatta. It was really yummy and came with chips and salad. Couldn't fault the food. The staff were also really friendly and we felt very comfortable there. :"

"My husband and I popped in for a hot beverage just as the heavens opened last Friday, and what a lovely cuppa it was too. Beautiful tea room and staff were so accommodating and friendly. Will definitely be back."

"What a gem! We’ll definitely be back to visit. Sat out surrounded by beautiful flowers. So peaceful, just the sound of the sheep in the background. 3 of us opted for the ploughman’s sandwich. Really fresh, with a creamy coleslaw and delicious salad on the side. Enjoyed lovely coffees teas with a tasty fruit scone. Great, friendly service. If you haven’t been, try it!"

"Stopped for a sandwich and a drink here after visiting Jervaulx Abbey, as this is the only eatery in Middleham that 's open on a Monday. On reflection I wish we 'd gone on to Leyburn instead. My pork and apple sandwich had clearly just emerged from a fridge, as the shop bought bread was as cold as the jarred apple sauce and 2mm thick layer of butter centre. The pork had a couple of crispy bits, which was nice, but this was outweighed by the massive chunks of fat and sinew, which were considerably less nice. The sandwiches were brought out without cutlery or napkins, and no indication of where these could be found. The bowl of chips we ordered were brought out by a surly middle aged man in a checked shirt who I assumed was the manager. They were dumped on the table with a sullen There 's yer chips as Mr Grumpy turned away and walked off without offering salt or ketchup, or indeed checking to see whether we had cutlery. We had to ask for salt and ketchup, and even then, only ketchup was produced. To be fair, the chips were good, but that 's about all I can really say. I was about to comment that at least the sandwiches arrived reasonably quickly, but given that they seemed to have come straight from the fridge, perhaps that isn 't surprising. Next time there 's nothing else open in Middleham, I 'll just plough on to Leyburn. I 'd strongly advise other potential visitors to do the same after Mr Grumpy 's attitude, you 'll have a very different view of the warm Yorkshire welcome that apparently exists in guidebooks."
