"We were a large party of 12 but unfortunately no-one can book a table on a Sunday! This is rare these days as people like to plan their mel times. We knew this is advance as we had been before. We waited for a short while and then the table was ready. This wasn't 1 table but we were spread across 3 separate tables which couldn't be put together and some had to sit elsewhere. This happened last time and this time we thought they would only allocate eating when it was ready for the whole party. Most went for the carvery. The vegetables were very good and the turkey really moist but the beef was so tough that you really needed a steak knife to cut through it. Overall a disappointing experience based upon the service, food quality and price/value for money."

"The cafe is nice and provides good food but some prices are unreasonable. £4.00 for 2 slices of buttered toast but an extra £1.00 for jam or marmalade is a bit tight. Come on Lakeland, do you really need to Milk customers for the small amount of jam it would take to make the toast a good option."

"Perfect location on a walk or cycle to the canal. We only stayed for a drink and sat outside. The staff were friendly but the wine wasn't so great. I'll definitely stop there again though because of its perfect location when on a cycle."

"Ordered a ciabatta with cheese and fig chutney!! In essence I got a dry cheese roll for £7.50 and a bit of salad! The ciabatta looked like on from Aldi! Totally disappointed"

"We called and had a couple of pints of decent cask beer decided to eat as the food coming out looked good. The table we were sat at was reserved for 8pm as it was 7pm, we asked for another table so we...wouldn’t be rushed. The only table available had a dog asleep on the long seat and, no matter how much I love my pets, I don’t think this should be allowed in an eating place. We ended up staying at the reserved table gulping our food down when it arrived. The food was very good."

"A simple but yet fantastic gastro pub The rose and crown is located in the centre of ulverston. The staff. Polite, helpful and friendly they contribute to a very warming atmosphere and engage well with the locals and tourists The food. I had the king prawn starter with chilli and garlic. Great portion, extremely tasty and great value for the price. My only problem was that I couldn’t get enough of it. My main was the panko chicken burger, the chicken was moist the panko batter was perfect, it came with skin on fries and onion rings which accompanied it perfectly (I declined the slaw and veg). The venue The Rose Crown is what a small town pub should be quiet and unassuming from the outside with a very quaint look to friendly and full of atmosphere on the inside. I can understand why the locals enjoy it Overall I will definitely be coming back and wouldn’t just recommend it to friends but I will be suggesting a visit next time I am here with friends."

"We nipped in here for a quick bite to eat. The rolls we had were delicious the freshest and softest rolls we have had for a long time and by far the nicest we had in the Lake District. We also took some plain rolls away with us and had with local bacon again delicious"
