"We went here with friends on Thursday evening at 6pm. It was busy and had a nice vibe about it. The staff were lovely and the food was absolutely delicious. There is an outdoor area but it was too chilly to sit out. Will definitely visit again. I need to eat gluten free as I am a coeliac and this was no problem at all for them. The chips were some of the best I have ever tasted. Thank you."

"The perfect venue for a spot of lunch and just a mile up the road from our house. The staff were great.....friendly jolly and efficient. The food is so tasty and delicious. We've been here many times since moving to this area and it'll always be a favourite pub/restaurant for my Husband and I."

"Had a meal for four, booked ahead by phone. The setting is lovely with an open fire within. The staff and landlady are very friendly, had a nuce chat with them The food was tasty and well presented."

"We went here as a treat last year and I forgot to review it at that time, however, as I say, it's not cheap, upmarket, but very good. Our meal was excellent, as well prepared and presented as I would expect it to be for...the price. It's always enjoyed a good reputation locally. I also had an excellent lunch here a couple of years ago. The place was a little cold, and some of the décor does not reflect properly the standard of upmarket hotel and spa it represent to be in my opinion, not really anywhere near plush enough for the money. The highlight for me was the knickerbocker glory absolutely the best, better than the ones you got as a kid! There are two versions dependent on the time of year I had the one with chocolate brownies in, indulge yourself, what a treat, truly first class. In fact, I've been back for just a K.G.!"

"Had a lovely walk around the Idle valley nature reserve. Decided to go for a pub lunch afterwards. Not being local did a google search and this pub looked a good bet. It turned out it was. Canal side setting with amazing covered outdoor seating areas. Good food and drink. Helpful pleasant staff. It was sunny which for this year was a bonus! Well worth a visit."

"Been here a few times in the evening but today was the first time we’d been for Sunday lunch. Wow! The complimentary pizza slices with bolognese whilst we were waiting was just great. The breaded shrimp and the bruschetta, just divine; especially the broccoli and lemon sauce accompanying the shrimp. The lasagne that followed was sublime but the roast pork, Italian style......what a triumph! Served in a huge bowl, tender slices of pork with rosemary on a bed of courgette, carrot and onion, five proper roast spuds; all in a rich meaty gravy with lashings of olive oil. I don’t like spinach and am not keen on broccoli, but we agreed that the spinach and broccoli cannelloni was the dish of the day. Rich but light with lots of Parmesan and tomato to supplement the beautiful cannelloni filling. Dessert? Not a chance after that lot! The Montepulciano Abbruzo went down well again, with the log fires keeping us warm, toasty and nicely relaxed. What a place this is! Great food cooked by Maurice, fabulous service from Sam and Sara and great craic from the locals. We will be back; again and again, no doubt."
