"Having avoided Chan's for almost two years since moving here after listening to other people, we decided to give it a try. I can not fault it. Ordered online and walked down to collect as we don't live far, the food was ready as I walked in. Very generous potion sizes, we ended up having too much food. The prawn crackers are the best I've ever had and one bag contained enough for three people. All of the food was well cooked and the flavours were lovely. I can't believe I left it this long to try but I will certainly be a regular customer there from now on."

"Small double room you cannot swing a cat in. If you are chlostrophobic this room is not for you. Stains on carpet being hidden by a mat. Cobwebs on ceiling. Fan in en-suite had to be turned off as it flaps loud through the night. Some aircon unit outside the window on the roof makes a noise all night so window has to be shut. But be careful watch the fish hooks on the curtains. Fish hooks being used to hold curtains up so dangerous and razor sharp. Breakfast was the only positive unfortunately. Accommodating to choices. Shame that doesn’t match the accommodation as it’s the perfect location for visiting Dorset. Felt we were forgotten about too as asked for a bath at booking which they said they would do their best to accommodate however when asked at check in it was a clear no, there were no rooms available due to a function and it would be a payable upgrade anyway. Wouldn’t stay here again unfortunately. Avoid room 4, recommend being renovated asap"

"Great outside space with plenty of tables and parasols for those that want shade. Very busy but relaxed atmosphere throughout. Really enjoyed the food which was good value and reasonable portion sizes. The garden is a sun trap in the afternoon. Plenty of parking on site."

"My friend and I visited The Crown today for a roast lunch. We were SO disappointed! We both ordered the roast pork and were looking forward to a few succulent slices carved from the joint and some crisp crackling. However, we were presented with a dry looking pork loin steak with thick fat on the edge. Clearly not carved from a joint of pork! We told our waiter this was not what we were expecting and asked to change it for the roast chicken. He was very defensive, but agreed. When the plates were brought back, we had been given a chicken breast portion each, again clearly not carved from a whole roast chicken. The chicken was dry, the roast potatoes appeared to have been reheated, the carrots tasted like they’d come out of a tin, the Yorkshire pudding was soggy, the cauliflower cheese was mushy, there was one small stuffing ball (probably from a frozen pack), the mashed carrot and swede was tasteless, the red cabbage was acidic and rather slimy and the only green items on the plate were a couple of over-cooked spears of broccoli. We agreed the whole thing reminded us of a bad school dinner! We paid our bill and told the member of staff how disappointed we were. Again, she was very defensive and said that they had only had good feedback ‘from everyone’ (implying it was us who had the problem). No attempt to apologise or offer any kind of discount. Needless to say, we won’t be returning. Such a shame, as the Sunday roasts used to be excellent."

"Unfortunately we got our food home and it was cold, the salt and pepper chicken was very chewy, over cooked. The sweet and sour chicken balls were very over cooked. First and last visit."

"We have recently enjoyed visits to the Anvil and the food has been very good. However, we called in for a roast on Sunday evening and found the meal a little disappointing. Roast potatoes were not roasted very much. Meat a bit dry and vegetables very few and far between. This is not really satisfactory for the quite high price. I hope you will take this criticism as intended to be helpful. I'm wondering if food was running short it being Sunday evening? Best wishes for your business."
