"Wonderful day trip from York! We rented 3 bikes: 2 mountain bikes 1 e-bike for the non-cyclist among us (me). The Swale Trail was lovely and a very pleasant ride along the river and past green pastures. On the way back, we decided to stick to the road, as it was smoother and had barely any traffic, plus it gave us a different vantage point. It was a bit of an effort to get to the top of the hill, but then it was smooth sailing all the way back down into town. The best thing about the rental experience, though, was the proprietor. He's the type of person you can instantly sense is a caring and decent human being. He was pleasant, helpful, and graciously accommodating of us making last-minute changes. Truly a pleasure!"

"Immersed for a light bite to eat. the scones were dry and hard. not impressed, the worst scorpions I've ever eaten. decent pot tee with extra pot hot water. Sausages and salat were ok. friendly staff."

"Enjoyed a really lovely evening meal here with friends at the weekend. The welcome was warm and we enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the cosy lounge. Every course was expertly cooked and equally delicious. My duck breast starter was probably the best duck I’ve ever had and every morsel of my guinea fowl main was perfect. The chocolate orange torte with blood orange sorbet for my dessert was an indulgent delight. Other highlights from our parties meals included the rump of lamb (perfectly cooked I’m advised) a monkfish main and a fantastically sticky treacle tart with creme anglaise. We did encounter quite a long wait for our starters and between courses but this was acknowledged by the friendly lady who was serving on who provided us with drinks on the house and extra sides (unprompted as we hadn’t complained) which we thought was really kind and a nice touch! Despite the long wait I’m still giving a five star review as the food was so good. I’m so pleased we such a lovely restaurant on our doorstep we’ll definitely be back."

"The building itself felt really dirty but the staff were so rude. Wouldn’t let us briefly log on to the wifi (no signal up there and it was urgent) and just unwelcoming."

"My family and I have been coming to reeth for years and we have recently loved the copper kettle. the new owners have actually made the inner look beautiful and welcoming. we enjoyed a great service and the coffee and the hot chocolate was lush. cakes etc. we are also tasty! cannot highly recommend. Thank you!"

"Four friends went for afternoon tea at Croft Tea rooms today. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. We had pots of real tea and were given extra hot water. There was a selection of four different types of sandwiches in nice soft bread, mini fresh cream meringue, mini macaroon, mini lemon tart and a mini chocolate cake along with a small scone, pot of cream and jam. We then had pots of filter coffee which were provided at no extra cost. Although it wasn't very busy service was a little slow but we were in no rush so it didn't bother us at all. We would definitely return."
