"One of the few places we found with vegan food in this small town of Shibu-Onsen. The staff were super helpful, just ask them about their vegan menu and they'll give you a list of vegan options! It was great when it was ridiculously cold and snowing outside and we didn't want to go far to eat. Decent portions/price and the food was good, but it is more western style food."

"We are customers of The Craft Room since we started to visit Nozawa Onsen. This is our favorite lunch spot after we hit the slopes. The restaurant is located directly near the gondola, which is extremely comfortable. If there's snow, you can go up! My Go-to items are the Brekkie Bagel and Chickenpesto Panini. If you're in the area, you'll see! We are happy to come here year after year! Thank you."

"Onpoint madarao is all we have been looking for for for a long weekend in nature. both my partner and I are vegan. everything we had to do was that justin and kaori know in advance and they really went beyond and beyond to create a menu for us. each single meal was an amazing experience from different aromas and textures, all plants based and made home. the breakfast was western style, while the Japanese style was dinner. on the last day we had lunch in the lodge and we tried the pulled mushroomburger. this was the hands down the best burgers I ever had, 100 vegan and full of taste. after the long walks and all the cycling during the day, back to a hearty meal prepared with the freshest ingredients is everything they need to charge! I recommend to them in any case for the breakfast dinner package when they choose their stay! the lodge itself is wonderful, with a modern design and a feeling of warmth throughout the room. we were in one of the superior rooms that have a double bed and a private bathroom. the room and lodge in general are super clean and with stylish furniture and finish. Justin knows the opposite exceptionally good, so he can be in the position to go on the spot and do activities while they are there. Justin and kaori are both very attentive and friendly, it was a joy to meet them. we will definitely be back in autumn and winter for more trips to the nature and relaxing time in onpoint madarao! updated by the previous review on 2020 08 23"

"Have soy milk for coffee matcha! Staff spoke English quite well so I was able to communicate what I could and couldn't have they were very accommodating! The seating is traditional Japanese (on the floor) with little tables! Heaps of charging outlets and wifi too, so an excellent spot to wind down after a long day of monkey spotting!"

"My husband and I spent 4 nights here at the end of December, 2016. They have 3 lovely hot spring baths: an outdoor rock pool which was incredible while it was snowing , an old, indoor covered one with traditional, high wooden ceiling, and a small, private, indoor wooden one with a large door to outside. The staff were really kind and carefully prepared us vegan meals, including 2 onigiri rice balls person each day +500 yen per person . They asked us as soon as we arrived to confirm what we could and couldn 't eat, and were very considerate about everything. The food wasn 't really fancy, but it was still nice and we were satisfied especially for the extremely reasonable cost of ~11,000 yen per person night, including dinner and breakfast! We had a simple but pleasant room over-looking the outdoor courtyard, and enjoyed exploring the small town and area during the day. 5 mins around the corner there is a funky cafe called Chamise Cafe and Space were we were able to get vegan soup and drinks during the afternoon as well.
