The restaurant is excellent. The food is good, the wine cocktails are great, there are warm fires, friendly staff, and a great host. It was the best night out in Ballarat in ages. View all feedback.
What Pam B doesn't like about Bar Wat:
Having an outing with my friend last week, we decided to try the Bar Wat. We were seated, I ordered the Lamb Cutlets, these were cooked rare and came out on a wooden platter which as far as I am concerned, blood and wood are not a hygienic mix at all). My friend had the croquettes which were cooked on the outside and fridge cold and gooey in the center. For drinks I had a glass of bubbly $9.50)but was flat, obviously... View all feedback.
Location so so (opposite a hospital but probably good for business) but warm and inviting inside. Eclectic decor and a great atmosphere. Lovely food. Would visit here again.
I didn't have expectations of any great scale other than a nice night out with friends. What I got was atmosphere in spades, service that was impeccable and staff that were fantastic adding to the whole evening being an absolute hoot. I don't drink but others in the group rated the cocktails highly however the wine list was limited. Aussie beer drinkers were limited in choice. But overall an exceptional but hidden gem for a function or just dinner for two. Definitely one for a return visit or several.
Went here for lunch on a cold ballarat day, was lovely and warm. Lots of creative unique detail in decor- loved the glass topped tables with antique style items under. Had lunch from winter warmer menu was very generous serve, quick and really yummy. Service was very attentive and super accommodating as we had our baby they happily gave us option of room with sofa this was perfect as could easily feed bubs and had room for him to lay. The beautiful open fire was a bonus! Will definitely be back! Hope to try wine next time as appeared to have good range
Thursday was a quite night for meals but a lot of coming and going We shared the tasting plate which were an amazing assortment of flavours and the peppered calamari was excellent We would definitely return for the food BUT the white wines were disappointing They do not have NZ Sav blanc and our waiter attempted to convince us with a tast of their preferred white wines would suffice Next time we will have food only I remember another establishment having the same concept Cheers till next visit
Tried out bar Wat after hearing a bit about it fantastic food great service, and a lovely atmosphere in front of the open fire place, we'll definitely be back
