a beautiful Thai restaurant. a real gem. fresh ingredients, delicious fish and a good selection of vegetarian and vegan foods. home made gloomy and ice/sorbs. I'm looking for a return. a real tasty bite if they really eat good quality at a reasonable price...price View all feedback.
What Laura Shaw doesn't like about Emchai:
In the past 5 years, we have visited this restaurant several times and it appears to have declined in quality. When I first dined at Emchai, the food was amazing - the appetizers were excellent, hot, and fresh, and the main course was well-cooked and flavorful. Now, it seems like they have started cutting corners. The appetizer plate tastes as if it was frozen and simply reheated, and the main course, such as the bee... View all feedback.

Came here for a birthday meal the vegetarian chicken was so good the server thought it was real and had to go check! Great to have a place near by that does vegetarian so well. Highly recommended.
We opted for the set menu at this restaurant because the food sounded appealing and it did not disappoint. The meal came with a vegetable side, but we decided to order an additional one (broccoli with soy sauce). The portions turned out to be quite generous, so we probably didn't need the extra side. We will definitely be returning in the future.
The food at this restaurant is fantastic, comparable to the quality I would expect from a high-end Thai restaurant in central London. I am surprised that they are not more popular, as there are few good restaurants in Barnet. I am writing this review in the hope that they continue to thrive so I can return again and again.
We are very local to this venue and visited it regularly when it was Emchai with the wonderful Singh front of house. It has gone through many changes since (this was our first visit since Singh’s family moved on). It is certainly back on track...with regards to the excellent Eastern fusion dishes it offers. I booked our table 20 mins or so before arrival, sadly there were not many other tables occupied. Please go and eat there the food is delicious, cooked with passion and presented beautifully. The more diners, the more popular it will become and the chances of it being around for many more years to come.
