"31 of us went in at a time. two waitresses and a cook have drinks, our order and we were served in record time. eating was plentiful, tasty and moderate. the deserts were all made in the house and were delicious. incredible how friendly and efficient the waitresses were. would drive 100 miles away from eating again."

"Waited years since New York Restaurant of Catskill NY opened to travel up from the NYC area to try them as I have mutual friends in the area, who are part of the owners family! Finally made it and was excited to be there. I thought overall the food was OK. I 'm removing two stars from this review. One removed because a restaurant that prides itself on Polish fare, their pierogi were small and overly doughy, with only 3 offered for nearly $7. Plain boiled with no searing in butter, I thought them unworthy of their home made heritage. The Truffle Brussels Sprouts dish was far too salty. The second star is being removed because when we were very first seated upon arrival, I asked our server if the owner was present that night, as I traveled 3 hours upstate to finally eat at their establishment with 3 guests after several years of desiring to dine there, AND I had long time mutual friends that were members of their family and I 'd love to finally meet them and introduce myself. To my delight I was told the owner was indeed present that evening! After appetizers, the owner never came to the table, I asked our server again and was told, they are very busy but she will mention it again . By dessert time, still no table visit, I mentioned it a third time and was told again they are very busy . Two hours later, upon finishing desserts and after dinner drinks when the check was being put before us, I mentioned wanting to say hello to the owner (4th request) as we were now getting ready to leave and was told sorry, don 't know where they are, they are busy . We ended up leaving without ever getting to say hello. And the place is tiny! How far away could they ever have been from our table the entire evening? Two hours there, spending $200, 4 requests to say hello, IMO, they had ample time to take 120 seconds to come to our table to greet their customers. Perhaps if I had mentioned I was a trained chef and pro food critic, that would have made all the difference? To late!"
