What User doesn't like about Jax Fish House Oyster Colorado Springs:
First time here. Oysters half shell good and presentation good. My dinner sole just OK. Was to have capers for some flavor and not evident. Presentation average. Dates dinner salmon OK average, but not remarkable. Go for the shellfish, otherwise don't expect to be impressed. View all feedback.
Looks like your Oysters were about the size of my thumbnail... You have the contract with the people in the East for oysters. Golf oysters and shrimps are so much better and good size so you feel that you are worth your monies. But we'll be back. Service by Tyler was excellent!
We have been here a few times, and this time was poor. 2.5 hours for dinner too long. Restaurant was pretty full when we arrived, but 45 minutes to get a drink????? Waiter would disappear for long periods of time during our dinner. He started to clear dinner plates, left half of dishes on table for next 30 minutes. Food was all good, service was the worst I've seen in quite a few years. Hopefully they can hire more service help.
Jax has always been one of my favorite seafood places from back in the day in Denver before Rockies games. And while Jax is still a super solid albeit pricey call for food, their Happy Hour just isn 't the same as it once was. The amazing duck fried rice seems to be completely off the menu. The wedge salad, although still on the main menu, has been removed from HR. Replacing these (and other) classics seem to be riffs on gumbo that just isn 't that great. The always solid muscles have been reduced to only one preparation and the portion size is so dinky it bears no resemblance to what it used to be. It also comes with toast to soak up the delicious juice...one piece...my table of four had to fight over one dinky piece of toast. C 'mon Jax, stop cheaping out. As with so many things in the world, people seem to forget what got them to success and commit hari kari in the name of 'being new and fresh ', 'reinventing themselves ', or certainly apropos here, try to pinch a penny. You guys used to be so good...
Hands down best seafood and best service in Colorado Springs!!
Loved Jax! Their staff are very knowledgeable about the dishes and the oysters. The food was so delicious. It is on the more expensive side and portions could be a smidge bigger. I have no complaints about the taste or the service as they were so well done. Highly recommend the pear martini.
