"If I had seen this receipt before paying, I would not have eaten here. I guess such tricks can only be pulled off here. If you do this in Vancouver, I guarantee you will be scolded very badly. As a chef, I believe that the operating costs of Vancouver restaurants are not lower than yours, but they may be more honest. P.S: if you have time and energy to refute bad reviews, maybe you can go to Vancouver and try Maruhachi, Jinya and Danbo."

"Absolutely superb cuisine and one of the best wine lists in BC. Staff are knowledgeable and attentive. A lovely oasis in the middle of Courtenay, surrounded by plum and fig trees and gardens. Our favorite restaurant for our birthdays and anniversaries."

"We told the waitress we were splitting all of our order, but when it came, there were no salad tongs to split the salad, and the main meal well, we had to split it ourselves. We're used to getting our meal split (and don't mind paying extra for it) when we share our order. (Obviously not big eaters) The food is great, nevertheless, and not inexpensive. It feels good to support a local business. We can't put our finger on it, but we didn't feel welcome, just served."
