After Hilary retired, the place (in my opinion) is going downhill. Stopped there to pick up a couple of sandwiches and was utterly disappointed. The old baguette (no, not the one from next door) was chewy, plastered with mayo and sporting some horribly tasting meat. I could see the cheese but could not taste it. No more fresh lettuce and peppers. Could not finish it ... Did I mention they new owners cranked up the pr... read more.

"Had their fish and chips. Halibut 2 pce. Look at pictures. It's not that it was bad, but it was far from great, OK best for pub food. Server made a special drink, but it was tasteless, hardly flavored water, but did not want the feedback I think? But enough for that. The service was missing strongly, although there was MAYBE 10% cap? Once checked, how it doesn't taste again until it was time to go, no refill, never asked if I wanted to close something in front of the kitchen... I wanted dessert, but nothing. And the place was dead. I left a bigger tip than deserved... I'll take care of some really good fish and chips next time. like Jo Classes in Courtenay!"

"We love going here with friends. All our meals have been delicious and the staff is very friendly. Their brunch cocktails are lots of fun. It can be busy and there is often a line.
