"Went for a family meal while on a break. Had the steak. It was simply one of the 5 best meals I have ever had full stop. The beer was perfect, with an open fire. All the food was top notch even the kids meals. Well done guys."

"Very cozy and welcoming café in a bookshop above all about women or books of women. Your cake selection is ginorm with 3 vegan tiffins the day I visited with friends and family. Has not seen on the menu, so can not comment whether they have hearty vegan things, but I think they do. Family member said the (vegetarian) chocolate raspberry brownie was the best she ever had. Several locals came in to buy cakes to work away/home. Dog-friendly. Also bought a book."

"Stumbled across the Pheasant whilst out visiting the lighthouse at the Isle of Whithorn and so glad we did. We all ended up having 3 courses and each one of us enjoyed each meal. Had a gluten free member in the party they catered for. If you like Italian food then it's well worth a visit."

"Home cooked eating, served with a smile. came here with adult and 2 children during a busy time. Despite the liveliness, the waiter was very competent, pleasant and patient when we changed our thoughts about pudding! the food arrived quickly and was very good. very happy."

"This cafe was an unexpected find on bank holiday Monday. The staff were really lovely and helpful and the food was perfect.
