large beer served by huge barrels behind the bar. - good more so. we had lunch and it was really nice eating. We stopped in Ottery St Mary for a hot lunch. The Volunteer was not too inviting from the outside, but time was pressing so we gave it a try. Service from the lady in charge was excellent and very professional.
