I came solo after being rejected from another place. The stage was super friendly helping a lot with the German menu. I had the special mountain goat. It was actually very good. With potatoes and some local wine made a great meal. Highly recommended. read more.

What User doesn't like about Berghaus Manndlenen:
Steep prices but then you are in the middle of nowhere and the proprietor receives supplies by helicopter only. We did not stay here so I cannot comment on the dorms. OK for a drink and a light snack as replenishment during the hike from Schynige Platte to First. Toilet facilities are rudimentary. Service not great and proprietor having to justify high prices to guests. Good enough for an emergency stop on the hike. read more.

"Our lunch in cafe 3692 was one of the best meals I had in the Swiss. it is about fifteen minutes to walk from the main bar up, but the reward is a wonderful location with an amazing view, and rest and rest! the cafe...es itself is very stylish in Swiss style, and there is a choice of eating inside or outside. the food itself was excellent. the salat was not only a simple salad of interesting ingredients and wonderful taste. the main course, a beef-casrole, was also good together with beautiful vegetables and again really nice."

"As I was the first person to write a TA review of this wonderful bar five years ago, I feel compelled, five years later, to pen an update. I'm happy to say it's even better than I remembered and, since the first time, they now serve panini (not that it could be described as a food bar, thank God). No, it's a proper bar with a good outside space at the back where the bar staff are wonderful and the owner, Alex, is often around to engage with drinkers. We were there during the street festival - every Wednesday in July/August - and despite the rain, Avocado was rocking with a live band, a big crowd and a fantastic atmosphere. It's difficult with bars to put your finger on why exactly they're better than others in the area, but whatever their secret is, they have it. Also there's a good balance between local regulars and visitors - and everyone is given a warm welcome."
