"Dinner menu starts only at 6/7PM and is usually full/reserved, so don't expect to be seated right away. you are warned. Outside seating has great view of the mountains, however it was closed when we got there as it was snowing. i had hausgemache tagessuppe mit Grindelwalder Schüblig-wurst und brot (homemade soup of the day with sausage bread) my friends had the salmon. portions were good for one person."

"As I was the first person to write a TA review of this wonderful bar five years ago, I feel compelled, five years later, to pen an update. I'm happy to say it's even better than I remembered and, since the first time, they now serve panini (not that it could be described as a food bar, thank God). No, it's a proper bar with a good outside space at the back where the bar staff are wonderful and the owner, Alex, is often around to engage with drinkers. We were there during the street festival - every Wednesday in July/August - and despite the rain, Avocado was rocking with a live band, a big crowd and a fantastic atmosphere. It's difficult with bars to put your finger on why exactly they're better than others in the area, but whatever their secret is, they have it. Also there's a good balance between local regulars and visitors - and everyone is given a warm welcome."

"I wandered the town of GrIndelwald before returning to Onkel Tom's Hutte. It caught my eye due to its charming outside eating area which is equally matched by its interior. The staff here couldn't be more helpful. Demand for tables was high and service took a few minutes due to its popularity but well worth the wait. I wanted my pizza tailored to my tastes and they didn't hesitate to help by adding my choice of preferred toppings. The pizza was excellent as was the salad I started with. Notable were the reasonable prices charged by this restaurant as compared with many I've visited whilst in Switzerland. I wouldn't hesitate to return."

"We had a nice stay here. we were able to book connection rooms (the brunette rooms) as we were on the move with our children and it worked great. the rooms were not luxurious, but they were very comfortable and had all the space and conveniences we needed. wengen is beautiful and hotel baren was in a great location on the main street, but very close to for easy access. the eating was extraordinary that we made the mistake not to book half board and eat it there twice, because it was the best in the city. we only speak English and communication with the employees was very easy."
