We recently visited this restaurant for the second time in just over a week. This time, in addition to their traditional mince pies and the incredibly delicious frangipan-topped mince pies, they also had meringue-topped mince pies. I resisted the temptation to take some home with me, but I will definitely be getting plenty for Christmas. When I arrived, I was feeling really stressed, but I received the usual friendly... Stay away from this place! The prices are too high, the portions are small, and the wait times were so long that it ruined our plans for the day. I wouldn't recommend this place and we won't be returning. We stopped in for a quick bite before a show at Pontio. The restaurant was empty with only a few tables occupied. We ordered 4 soft drinks, 1 coffee, 3 toasties, a lasagne, and a pasta dish. After 40 minutes, we only received our drinks and had to inquire about our food since we were running out of time. We were assured it would be out soon but had to wait even longer. When our food finally arrived, it was plated instead of in takeaway boxes like we requested. The portions were tiny, and the prices were outrageous. We ended up spending £77, leaving hungry, and had to rush to the show which we were late for. When we raised our concerns about the service, we were given a half-hearted apology and not offered any compensation. We used to enjoy this place but it has definitely gone downhill. We will not be returning.
Popped in for brunch 15/07/2023 and it was busy when we arrived. We always call into here when in the Bangor area. Had the full Welsh breakfast and as usual Nick had cooked everything to perfection and the food was presented in a fine way, my wife had poached egg, beans and bacon on toast, again cannot be faulted, both breakfasts were washed down with a nice pot of tea. It is clear to see that Nick takes so much pride in all his cooking and Clare is the perfect host. They always make you feel very welcome and the cafe has a wonderful atmosphere . It is clearly a popular venue for local people and visitors alike whether you are on your own or as a group and dogs are also welcome. Extremely good value for money, you will not be disappointed. In our opinion you will not find a better breakfast in Bangor.
We visit here regularly, excellent service and very welcoming, the lovely meals and home made cakes and ice cream all amazing . Highly recommended Lee, Richard and Marian
Delicious breakfast from local sources, however was quite pricey for two breakfasts (2 drinks and breakfasts for £35) but really was the best full English we've had in a long time.
