"Visited yesterday evening for our anniversary. Beautiful setting and the building, what we saw, was truly stunning. Although the chap we saw was friendly enough, the whole evening lacked any atmosphere. We sat in a room with three large tables occupied by two other couples. It was so awkward and we felt we had to whisper, not comfortable at all. We did end up speaking to one couple just before we left. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed in our meal. We had scallops as a starter and although tasty, were served only 1 which we felt was a bit stingy. We both had venison Wellington as a main. The venison was so overcooked it was difficult to cut and the pastry was soggy and undercooked. The accompaniments were a tasty dauphinoise and 1 miniscule carrot and turnip. Neither of us ate it all sadly. For dessert I had the pear dessert which was a souffle. It was grainy, far too sweet and the pears at the bottom had zero taste. My husband has the cheeseboard which he enjoyed. The coffee was tasty but neither of us enjoyed the petit fours as too sweet and we didn't enjoy the flavours but appreciate that this is a personal thing. Overall, for us personally, a disappointing experience. We were so looking forward to it. Although we wouldn't return, it may have been just an off night so I wouldn't want to put anyone else off"

"The taste of the food itself is fantastic, however since they changed the ordering style (no longer a buffet) and upped the price, I find that it's no longer worth visiting the restaurant. The portions are tiny and you can't order anything additional. I don't know why they added a dessert I don't know a single person who wants a low quality chocolate cake from a Chinese. Get a takeaway, it's so much more worth it. Service: Dine in"
