I really enjoyed the food, drinks and ambiance of this mountain town bar. Local feel but very warm environment and good service. I had the Brussel sprouts, well cooked in a balsamic sauce, heavy but really good. Then the mushroom flatbread which is on a gluten-free cauliflower crust, the toppings were delicious but the crust was under baked. Then a Caesar salad which was good. I would for sure come back and eat/drink... View all feedback.
What Ed Tash doesn't like about Axe Rose Public House:
When this place first opened for business they had the best fish and chips in the county... now the price has gone up and portions have become much smaller as well as the quality of the fish...although the atmosphere was cool and the service was great it's needless to say I will not be going back any time soon. Great food and atmosphere! Beautiful historic building (the banquet hall adjacent to the dining room still has the original hand-painted ceiling). The grilled zucchini skewers were amazing! They 're huge (each one is literally a quarter of a full size summer squash cut length-wise), and they were just the right amount of crunchy and not overcooked but still tender. The Chicken Basket is a great value meal , and the chicken tenders are actually pieces of chicken (not blended mystery meat). It was a great meal after a full day of outdoor activities.
