"Lovely restaurant inside, and the food is nice, but from the minute we stepped in the door, a poor tone was set. We were a group of 12 with a booking. On entry, we were directed to a side area as one of the tables was not ready not a problem, but a simple smile would have gone a long way! Upstairs we were all seated together at one long table, but told we would be treated as two tables of 6 as they did not accommodate groups >6. This would have been fine, except the first table received their food 60 mins before the rest of the group. 75 mins after order was taken, one of the group was informed that their main (plaice was unavailable meaning that cooking had not even commenced. The other half of the table were already finished mains at this stage. All would have been fine if rule number 1 of customer service was practiced by the manager when we raised concerns at paying stage accept the feedback and apologise. However, instead she refuted and denied and generally caused raised blood pressure, instead of defusing and creating a positive atmosphere. Interesting that the 10% mandatory service charge for groups >6 was added to the bill, even though we were told they only catered for groups up to 6 (and hence why food was served at different times ! An interesting way to spend €700 for sure. (There was one waitress about 19/20 with blonde hair who was absolutely lovely and was genuinely doing her best to compensate for her colleagues she is a star!"

"We have gone to Listowel Arms Hotel for years as we have family in the area. We were always impressed with their breakfast cooked to order. But not this time we were staying for 2 nights this week very disappointed with cooked breakfast. First morning we got full Irish everything on the plate was over cooked fried eggs hard bacon like cardboard. Next morning we asked for full Irish with our eggs soft. Plates came out with soft eggs bacon pink with fat not cooked at all. We asked the girl who was serving us if she could change bacon for crispy bacon. She took the plates back and brought back same bacon was put under the grill and all burned. I was very surprised that the kitchen would allow plates to leave the kitchen. Our room badly needed a makeover tiles on bathroom floor was cracked and towels were very well worn."
