Brenda at the cafe makes the best cake I've ever eaten, the bike shop is excellent and knowledgeable, the accommodation is clean and comfortable (with cake available 24 hours a day on an honesty box basis) and Stu is an incredibly knowledgeable and fun guide. At Dales Bike Centre in Richmond, there's a diverse brunch in the morning where you can indulge enjoy, Lovers of the English cuisine are impressed by the extensive variety of traditional dishes and enjoy the taste of England. "Wonderful day trip from York! We rented 3 bikes: 2 mountain bikes 1 e-bike for the non-cyclist among us (me). The Swale Trail was lovely and a very pleasant ride along the river and past green pastures. On the way back, we decided to stick to the road, as it was smoother and had barely any traffic, plus it gave us a different vantage point. It was a bit of an effort to get to the top of the hill, but then it was smooth sailing all the way back down into town. The best thing about the rental experience, though, was the proprietor. He's the type of person you can instantly sense is a caring and decent human being. He was pleasant, helpful, and graciously accommodating of us making last-minute changes. Truly a pleasure!"
