lovely food, huge portions, more than fair prices.
Can't fault one of Oakhams Best Kept Secrets!
Told my order would take 30 to 35 mins only to return and be told by rude staff it would be another 30 -35 mins!!

"What a great find. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food is excellent, offering all local produce. The different meat dishes were all looking very tasty. To start, we had the charcuterie, with various pickles, absolutely delicious. I had the 'pub pie ', which was beef and Stilton, my wife had the deer steak. Both were beautifully cooked and presented. The pub offers a number of smoked meats for sale, which they produce themselves. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would thoroughly recommend The Kings Arms for excellent food and atmosphere."

"Really good quality food with friendly service. I'd say great pub food but that feels like an undersell. Between the four of us we had lamb and vegetarian Sunday lunch which came with generous servings of veg, including toasties and gravy. A nice big Yorkshire pud that was large without being ridiculous. 2 of us had the slow cooked BBQ pork which was outstanding as well. The starters were every bit as good. While we didn't have desserts the menu was very tempting. The service was friendly and efficient without being overbearing. All in all was a superb Sunday Lunch choice at a reasonable price point. In our case it worked out at 2 courses and a couple of drinks was £25 per head. Great value for money given the quality was really good. Highly recommend it. We will be back and probably outside of a Sunday to try a few of the dishes."

"Great hotel in a great location. the staff is very friendly and extremely attentive. that was amazing. iberico swarm was simply the best pig I ever tasted. it is at the upper end of the price table, but it is worth if they want a contract."

"Came today for my Husband's birthday with our 2 children. Unfortunately it wasn't a great experience. Firstly, no children's menu, only smaller portions of the main menu but no chicken roast for them either. Secondly, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold which I advised our waitress about. Not great with two small children. Thirdly, the gravy on the roasts tasted like hoisin sauce and other diners agreed! It was horribly sweet and ruined the dinner. Advised the waitress and she asked the chef who confirmed he had used too much sugar! You would think he would have discarded and remade it rather than serve it to paying customers knowing it was horrible! Lastly, our table was booked for 1pm; we didn't leave until 3:40pm! 2 hours and 40 minutes for 4 roasts and 3 desserts! We were informed when we arrived that they had an electrical issue this morning and were playing catch up, however, with only one other table of people in the restaurant, 2 hours and 40 minutes wasn't acceptable. Despite all of the above, we were not offered any discount off our bill. Over £100 for a very poor experience especially given it was my husband's birthday! Sorry, won't be returning"
