"Hubby and I went the whole hog with entree, mains, dessert and coffee. From start to finish this place was amazing and the food exquisite. We had gone to Limoges for a day trip and were tired and out of sorts, having no luck finding anything open on a Friday evening on our return trip to Perigueux. One of the standouts for my husband was 'variation porc fermier' which was apparently pork done in different ways. It came with a melt in your mouth polenta, creamed potatoes, five pieces of pork all done a different way, showing off magnificent textures and flavours. I had the chicken Thai curry which was superb. This place knows how to treat it's guests, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. The waitress was helpful and friendly. Of course, it helped that the owners huge, old, and very friendly dog was sprawled out in the foyer greeting guests with a tail wag and a come and pat me head that was hard to resist. This place is relaxed yet formal, impressive yet homely. You feel as if you are entering a reception centre, but you're made to feel as if you are valued guests in someone's home. It is a standout establishment in a little pocket of the region that we would go back to."

"We had the 34 euro lunch menu in the restaurant which was very very disappointing. This was a birthday treat given by a friend. The main course of fish was dry and shrivelled to the point of disappearing. There wasn't anything else on the plate apart from a few cerise tomatoes and limp asparagus tips. The service was very very slow, and took three hours to complete the meal. Even though we live locally we will not recommend this restaurant and sadly we won't be returning."

"Nous avons fait étape un Samedi soir , en tout début de saison .Si la maison parait ancienne , la salle à manger ne manque pas de charme.Et surtout la cuisine est particulièrement savoureuse , le chef aime manifestement son métier !La formule avec buffet en entrée et dessert permet de varier les plaisirs.Soulignons enfin le sourire de l' hôtesse qui contribue à une étape bien sympathique"

"We happened to be in Jumilhac le Grande on a gloriously sunny day in October. Surprised to find only one Restaurant in this pretty village. It is situated right opposite the chateau, yet the prices were not 'too touristy ' and actually, quite reasonable. The staff...were a little preoccupied at first but with some blatant hints they soon realised we were hungry and we chose a ‘table sur terrace’ with a beautiful view of the chateau and village square. The Menu du jour was very limited but excellent value and we started with some Hors d 'oeuvres from the buffet. The only main course was an escalope of turkey in breadcrumbs with a mixed root vegetable mash and ratatouille and we all enjoyed this immensely. The Cheese board vice dessert was large and tempting with about 10 or more pretty, little samples on. My fellow diners enjoyed ice creams. This bistro is obviously family run (they have 2 little Spaniels) and the service is a little less than polished professional, but if you’re polite and a little patient yourself, it could turn into a very magical luncheon, long remembered as typically French!"
