Far West Fungi - Santa Cruz

Got grow kits, followed simple instructions, ive got baby shrooms 2 days later! so fun to watch grow. the pics on the instructions could be better.

For the only mushroom store I've ever been to, it's definitely the best!!

Empanada was $6, rustico was $7 and they were both soooo good. Candy cap cheesecake was okay. Unfortunately I think I bit into a small rock in the rustico but not going to cry about it

Went here about a week ago with another cooking-obsessed friend. What a terrific variety of fresh dried mushrooms. The staff is welcoming; they spent lots of time explaining flavors. I was on the hunt for black trumpet mushrooms because I had read about their 'meaty ' quality. Bought some it 's true plus several other varieties. There 's a small area for eating, so we tried the soup, an empanada and a chanterelle rustico. Just WOW. Can 't wait to go back.

Francisco was kind and helpful. We bought tinctures and some delicious mushrooms. I also had the mushroom soup which was out of this world! I’ll definitely be back.
